Very comfortable. Got a room for $99 a night which is half what it usually is. Rustic log cabin decor with a beautiful view of the river.

The resort is absolutly fabulous. Room 23 is a real charm, fireplace and the river view was spectacular. We will make this a yearly retreat from reality.

We stayed in a lodge room for 4 nights. The room is very attractive with log walls and ceiling. The deck is very private and overlooks nice grounds and the Wisconsin River. The beds weren't too hard, which I like. It was generally very quiet. They light a bonfire every night, which is charming and adds to the atmosphere. However, we did have some quibbles. The drapes are a kind of faux bamboo and let the light in quite a bit. We also realized that people walking by our room could see us when the lights were on! We noticed that the first floor rooms had liners for the drapes, but not the 2nd floor. They seriously need them in all rooms! Also, there was no place to hang clothing. We noticed that the first-floor rooms had closets, but nothing for the 2nd floor rooms. I realize that the 1st floor rooms cost more, but light-blocking drapes and a place to hang clothes seem to be pretty basic to have for any room. The bathroom had instant hot water, but the counter space was lacking to spread out personal items.

We just had to get away for a long weekend. We were hesitant to go to the Dells (yikes!) but it was close and we thought we'de give it a shot. Stumbled on to this lovely retreat and it had a special for the Father's Day weekend, to boot. Stayed in #5 of the Lakeview Villas and it was a gem! Lovely room, lovely view! Walking distance to a lively River Edge restaurant with very good food. Did the Ducks for old times sake and a boat ride of the upper Dells which was great. Are already planning a fall trip back...The Dells...who knew?!!

We stayed in a a two-bedroom villa (No. 7) for four nights with two small kids and four adults (parents and grandparents. The unit was large enough for us (one bedroom with a king bed and one with two doubles) and had a nice view of the WI River.

Overall the Lodge grounds were nicely maintained and it was quiet in the eveing, geared toward families. They light a bonfire in the evening and people can bring marshmallos, etc to roast. There is a small play area for younger kids and a small pool and sun deck. The river was not an option for swimming (after stepping in we found ourselves sinking quite a bit into heavy mud) but there was sand along the bank which was nice for walking.

I have to admit I was a little disappointed in the overall experience, especially after reading all of the positive reviews. My concerns were:

- Staff: They were downright unfriendly when we checked in. Instead of greeting us warmly (we are a family, clearly not troublemakers!) the two women behind the desk proceeded to give us a litney of do's and don'ts - mostly all don'ts - such as where we had to empty our trash, not to take towels to the pool, no fires on the deck, check-out time is 10 am, etc. etc. I understand the need to convey policies, but they acted like we were coming in looking for trouble and we were inconveniencing them by checking in 9it was only about 4 p.m.)

- Villa: Villa #7 was looking a bit tired. The sink in the kitchen was black with permanent stains and scratches and looked pretty gross. There were only two wine glasses and only a smattering of other mis-matched glasses. The wallpaper was peeling in both bathrooms. The rate we paid ($395/night) also included housekeeping, however this consisted only of adding clean towels and removing the garbage. No making beds, doing the dishes in the sink, wiping down counters or general tidying. Considering we were spending $395 per night, I would have expected the unit to be kept up a bit better and to have a higher level of housekeeping.

Next time I'm in the Dells, we will check out another resort option...

Took me 3 days of intense researching before I finally decided to make our family vacation reservation with Cedar Lodge and Settlement. Even had the office send me some pictures of the exact lodge room we would be staying in before we made the $ commitment.

Almost chose Sunset Bay Resort which was close by but ... luck must of been on our side that day because when we arrived our family discovered Sunset Bay Resort was of no comparison + Lake Delton was a mess because of the recent flooding problems (no water in the lake).

Cedar Lodge and Settlement overlooks (and is very close to) the Wisconsin River and was absolutely beautiful. We stayed in Lodge Rm # 16 and all of the furnishings happened to be brand new and tastefully decorated. We strolled the grounds and participated in the evening camp fire gatherings where we met some really nice folks from Chicago and surrounding area.

Chris in the office was always very helpful, polite, and provided us with a big bad of ice for our room when we arrived. He also gave us some local suggestions for places to see and visit.

Stayed (3) days and wanted to stay longer. If you want to stay out of the hectic downtown area and still be just a few minutes away from the action, the Cedar Lodge would be my recommendation.

Another plus is the Lodge is located right next door to the Rivers Edge Resort which had a very nice Bar/Restaurant which we walked to late evenings to have a night cap or snack before calling it a day. BTY - The Rivers Edge also looked like it would be a nice place to stay if the Cedar Lodge was full, but we would still try Cedar Lodge first.

River's Edge rents pontoon boats too if you are interested!

Saw several deer and racoons around the property and honestly we feel like we cannot say enough good things about this place.

Try it.....you won't be disappointed!!! Clean, comfortable, quiet, and sooooo relaxing.

We recently celebrated our 10 year anniversary at the Cedar Lodge Resort. We had a great time and enjoyed the great updated room with all the privacy you could ask for. Private balcony, a quiet beach and bond fires every night made our stay fantastic. Chris was very accomodating and even provided us with a bottle of our favorite wine!

We definitely plan on coming back soon!
