The pool area was nice and clean and we had a good time relaxing on the lazy river they have. That's where the nice stopped , the room was smelly , the beds were so bad I got about three hours of sleep. The hallways are hot and have a moldy smell. We stayed in a delux split room ( beds in separate room) but the room had no deck or patio area! Even some of the cheapest rooms in the dells have decks. The prices to me are a bit high since it's out dated and zero comfort.

Spent a long weekend there as part of a travel baseball/softball tournament. Our whole team stayed, (12 rooms). We stayed in the Isles. across the parking lot from the main building. Several people had to change rooms because of mold and odor. The front desk was not very accommodating. The outdoor waterpark was fun, but as other reviews stated-best suited for younger kids. The overall look of the hotel buildings is run down. There has been no attempt to update the decor. Given that, very disappointed especially as the rooms were not a bargain- and we were given no discount despite booking a sizable block of rooms. If space had been available, elsewhere, would have been worth spending a a little more to stay at one of the newer resorts.

Outdated, dirty, nasty...just a few words. The woman at the front desk was curt and not helpful when I stated that we were to get a room close to the elevator since we had a handicap person. She would not even listen and just said "that is where you room style is...that hallway." Well we could have still been in that hallway closer to the ONLY working elevator instead of the last room of the hall. I know there were empty rooms closer to the elevator with our layout since I saw the people moving in 2 days later.

The water in the outdoor park is COLD. Not a lot of lifeguards to cover the areas. One lifeguard watched 2 kids areas walking b/t them both. Oneof the areas was completely out of sight at all times. The waterpark is for kids under the age of 7. The seats and cushions are very old, and broken...I would not trust sitting on them. The indoor waterpark is small and if you want to do the slides/lazy river and then just play in the pool, they are at different ends of the buildings-1/4 mile apart.

The room is so outdated and dirty. The fan in the bathroom is soooo loud that you just went to the bathroom in the dark. The bed is OLD....sheets too small, pillows flat and nasty. The hallways are HOT and smelly.

We have stayed at he Kalahari many times and regretted that we did not this time. Yes, it is more $, but it is WELL worth it. Cleaner, safer, and nicer

The bad dream started with check-in. We were placed directly above the check-in area however being handicapped I asked for ground floor. My request was made prior to check-in. They were not friendly and could care less. I was told no and the only working elevator was in the other building. The room is more than outdated. Turn on the bathroom light and it was if a giant noise filled the room. The ring in the tiolet bowl made me think that it hasn't been cleaned in quite some time. The coffee pot was dirty and the microwave leaved alot to be desired. The bed was checked for bed bugs-at least we didn't find any. However the sheets were faded yellow and did not fit. Each morning we were seeing the blue mattress. The pillows were the old latex. The hallway smelled of tobacco and musty. Read the fine print-you will be charged for the use of the safe. You must ask for the charges to be reversed upon leaving.

We stayed at the Isle. The rooms are clean but definately outdated. But I was not expecting it to be top of the line either. The outside waterpark area is great. It's pretty large. It was perfect for our 3 & 6 yr old until the weather turned cold. It was too cold for the outside water as the water is not heated. They have a few inside areas for lil ones to play. They have an indoor waterslide and lazy river but it was not open until 5pm. Most of the guests were upset by that. Several ppl complained to the staff. Don't bother asking for the Manager. The staff always said "he just stepped out". My suggestion is to only stay at this hotel if it is a very hot weekend. Then it would be worth it. That way all the slides/areas are open. We definately will not be staying here again.

We booked the room at 1 PM through hotels.com for that same evening. When we arrived at 5 PM, the staff said they had not received our reservation. They did not offer us a different room. They did not tell us that they were completely booked and could not offer us a different room. They did not apologize for the snafu or put forth any effort to assist us with getting our room. Instead the staff ignored us while we called hotels.com who faxed over a copy of our reservations to the hotel. Even if most of the fault lies with hotel.com, the staff seemed lethargic, uninerested in their job and completely untrained to deal with problems. We were finally given a room key at 6:30 PM.

The room was larger than expected. It came with a king size bed and a queen size pull out bed. The room was clean and it was equipped with a mini fridge. The television was positioned so that it could be viewed fom either the bed or the couch but there was a divder wall betwen the two rooms making viewing a bit awkward. We cannot attest to the water park though it looked quite inviting (we made reservations so that we could go to the local Ho-Chunk casino). The hotel has two floors and only one elevator. They do not provide push luggage carts or bell men so you have to lug all of your stuff to your room on your own. Other guests seemed to be having a great time in the water park. It would seem that half (?) of the resort's guests were under 10 years old. We would return again with our grandson (hoping for a more pleasant front desk experience), but probably not without a younger child in tow.

This hotel was priced right for us, I am very picky, and have not stayed outside of the Wilderness Hotel. This year to save money, my husband suggested staying here. I was very nervous and said okay. While the hotel is dated, it was clean and quiet. The kids loved the waterpark and we will definately be back. Before I had kids and traveled for work, I preferred down comforters in the rooms, now a frugal stay at home mom, I want quality for the price. They don't have down comforters, but the rooms are very clean and the ammenities are bath and body works, kind of fun :) If you have any hesitation like I did, but want to save money, give the Polynesian Isle a try, it saved us alot of money and we still had fun!! :) BTW- The staff was so nice, Britany checked us in and seemed to always be there, what a great person to represent your hotel :)
