Stayed in the 3 bedroom condo at the lake. Paper thin walls, could here everything next door, especially up in the loft. Supposed to hold 12 people, 10 people standing in line to use 1 bathroom. 2 of my grandchildren got severe rashes from pool. NOT worth $400 to $500 per night.

My family stayed at a 3 bedroom condo unit at the Wilderness Hotel and Resort. The unit looked great from the outside but we came to find out the kitchen plumbing was faulty and had been ejected decaying food out from under the cabinets and all over the litchen floor. Mold was growing up the base boards. The place was a health hazard to my family and we got out as fast as possible.

Stayed for my first time ever in the Dells at the Wilderness. Couldn't have asked for better. Rooms were clean and towels were plenty! We stayed the day after Labor day so unfortunately the buffets were not available anymore but my kids, ages 2&4, who are big eaters ate free breakfast anyway. Found the majority of the staff pleasant to be around. Its a BIG place however so plan on some walking. The water rides were awesome for all. The dry ball playground and arcade were great for kids of all ages as well as for us adults. Plan on making a return trip there at the end of next summer again if not sooner!

We Stayed at the wilderness for the first time this summer and we had such a good time. Everyone there was so nice to us. There were 9 girls that went in our group so you can imagine that it got pretty loud, and no one ever told us to quiet down or anything which was so nice. We accidentally dropped a few cd's down the elevator terminal and this man that worked there so kindly went down to the basement to see if he could find them for us. We thought they were long gone but he brought them up to our room as soon as he found them. We had such a blast in all the waterparks and just enjoying the scenery...such a beautiful place to stay...we cant wait to go back there next summer.

We stayed in a Luxury Whirlpool King Suite and have no complaints whatsoever. We did have a little problem with our whirlpool at 11pm(due to a lot of use) but maintenace was up within 3 minutes, turned out to be nothing serious and was fixed w/in a matter of seconds. Customer service was superb. We had so much fun, we played with the idea of spending another night and inviting some nearby friends to stay with us. We were offered our same room at a 50% discount and took it. Our guests loved the Wilderness also, as did our kids. We will definetly stay here again!!

We just returned from a long weekend at the Wilderness. Our room was in the newer section of the hotel as per our request. The room was very nice for 2 people however housekeeping service was odd at best. One day we got no cups, the next we got 8. One day the room was done by 11, the next not till after 3. For what we paid, $600.00 for 4 nights, one night being Saturday, it was an excellent value.
That said, the food on site was terrible. We've stayed here before and had much better food. The only restaurant worth the price was the Thirsty Buffalo Saloon overlooking the waterpark. Wild Canyon Cafe has either menu service or a buffet. In the past we had the buffet and found it well worth the price. Not this time! The food was very blah and too much was fried. The menu service wasn't much better. Speaking of service, the servers were either way overworked or just bored with their jobs. Both times we were completely done with dinner before being asked if we'd like drink refills.
Our worst experience of the weekend was with the children who are allowed to run completely unsupervised all over the resort from around 7AM till 11PM at night. Most of the time our hallway sounded like the buffalo coming into the prairie. Most of the time these were kids of all ages running to get somewhere with no parent around at all. My 12 year old son was with me and never ran anywhere! He knows better. These kids ran through the halls, through the waterparks and through the buffet at the restaurant. There were young children left with no supervision in the wave pool. I'll bet their parents would be the first to sue should something tragic happen. My son knows how to swim quite well and this was the first year he was allowed to go in the wave pool alone.
We love the Dells but would rather pay more and stay one less day than put up with this again. We stayed at Kalahari before over Spring Break and never had this issue. I don't know if it's because Kalahari costs more and so they get a higher class of visitors or not. The Wilderness used to be a great place to stay but the undisciplined children have ruined it for those whose kids do behave.

We have always stayed at the Wilderness on the Lake and have had exceptional service so I was a little nervous when we decided to stay at the main resort. My worries were unfounded.
We decided to stay in the new 3 bedroom golf course cabins because my husband, son and I decided it would be fun to stay with his brothers family. These are the newest cabins and are right off the golf course. They are listed as 3 bedroom cabins but they are actually 4. There are 3 regular sized bedrooms and one small bedroom with only a dresser and a bunk bed. This worked out perfect because My husband and I had our own room (king bed with master bath and access to outdoor deck), his sister in law had her own room (queen bed with access to outdoor deck), the oldest boy had the upstairs loft all to himself (this is neat because it has a window in the bedroom that looks down to the living room) and the two youngest boys shared the bunkbed room.
There are two bathrooms, full kitchen with granite coutner tops and breakfast bar. There are tvs in every bedroom except bunkbed room and the living room has a plasma tv with surround sound and a dvd player.
The hotel staff was very friendly and courteous. We used the shuttle service often (the boys liked this). We never had to wait more than five minutes and they drove us directly to whichever entrance we wanted to go to. We have never had a problem with the resort being spread out because we usually on go to one waterpark at a time and the driver always takes us directly there. There are signs posted all over the resort with arrows indicating where everything is and the hotel staff have always been helpful with directions if I wasn't sure where to go.
We went the first week in October during the week and the golf course cabin was only $175.00/night. This is less than we usually pay for the wilderness on the lake and since we split it with my husband's brothers family it cost less per night than a standard room would have.
The Wilderness on the Lake and the other cabins are larger (have more square feet) but this cabin had the perfect number of bedrooms and was large enough that we all had our own space.
My husband and I decided that when we go to the dells alone we will stay at the lake but when we want to stay with his family we will stay in one of the cabins. I suggest going during the week. This was such a great deal. We got so much for $175/night.
