Great Wolf Lodge
Ranked #11 of 75 Hotels in Wisconsin Dells
Reviewed February 9, 2014

The Great Wolf Lodge is hands down the most child friendly, well decorated, well organized, comfortable, and one of the best water parks in the Dells. The attractions have a wide variety, the food is delicious, the staff is nice very spirited and very quick, the rooms are always warm quiet and cozy, and the park is very clean and safe for everyone to enjoy. I would say that the Great Wolf Lodge is a winter park, the outdoor water park is not the greatest. Lets start off with the parks features. The indoor water park isn't as big, and is doesn't have as many attractions as the Kalahari, but it is much more child friendly. All children of any age will have an awesome time here. There's a day care center for the really little ones, and a gym on the 1st floor to pump some iron. There's a separate non water park building on the property called MagiQuest. I was not impressed with MagiQuest. I thought that was boring and unexciting. There used to be something there called Wiley's Woods, but it got replaced by MagiQuest. The water park has 3 parts. Totem Towers, Fort McKenzie, and Bear Track Landing. The water temperature is a warm and satisfying 84 degrees Fahrenheit. Totem Towers is a great place for the little ones. Small water slides, a shallow pool, and endless fun. Fort McKenzie is a jungle gym full of excitement. Great for all ages to enjoy, There's 2 water slides on top of it, and there's a 1000 gallon bucket on top that dumps every 5 minutes. And at the very back of Fort McKenzie is where you'll find the park's most famous and exciting attraction. The Howlin' Tornado. Bear Track Landing consists of a wave pool, 2 tube slides, a kiddie pool, and 4 mat slides. The wave pool is just the perfect size, totally safe, and a great place to hang out. The kiddie pool is just off to the left, it's like a miniature Fort McKenzie, and that is the best place in the park to take the babies. The tube slides long and enticing, and the mat slides are fast and very fun to race your kids, friends or whoever! Now lets talk about the rooms, food, and service. The rooms, lobby, hallways, and restaurants, are up kept, well decorated, and beautiful. You'll be awed by the atmosphere of The Great Wolf Lodge. The big clock in the main lobby tells everyone a bedtime story, and it's very entertaining to watch it with your family. The food is out of this world. Absolutely delicious. And every single room, from a double suite to the largest condo are luxurious and comfortable. Bring the family down there and have the time of your lives, and don't forget to howl!

Room Tip: Request a room with a fireplace.

Wonderful vacation! We have a 6 year old girl and a 9 year old girl ,who were 5 and 8 at the time.We had a blast!I LOVED how cozy the resort was!Warm and inviting! The staff was WONDERFUL!!!!!!!SO much to do!It was our 1st vacay here on March 2013.Very clean and organized(which is Very important to me!).Everything was beautiful! The indoor water parks were GREAT!Lifeguards were great! We felt the girls were very safe in the water.I felt like we did not have to hover over them all the time. That was nice!We only went to the breakfast buffet a couple times but it was so nice and comfy and the kids could keep themselves busy using their Magi Quest Wands inside the restaurants making creatures talk and lights to come on in different areas! There was also Magi Quest areas throughout the resort that you could use with the wands and even complete a quest!Medium size arcade and multiple restaurants all inside the resort.Oh!They also had a spa and fitness center(didn't use either, though).A nice outlet nearby(Maybe 300-500 feet away!LOTS of stores!Nearby restaurants ,too! They have a craft area ,too though kind of small considering the size of the resort. They also have numerous slides in the Magi Quest place (which is connected to the resort, too!).So if the younger ones get bored they can slide while the others finish their Quests!Totally worth the money!Oh,and free face painting every day in the beautiful lobby and a show at younger ones bedtimes with mechanical puppets(Very cute)cute mechanical animals that come out of the huge clock(located in the lobby!).MY TRIP TIPS:Get the Paw Pass(money saver),if you can, try to get a room facing the trees!, and Go to the Buffalo Phils restaurant !!!! (kitty corner from the resort)(super close!)Huge place with old time deco./ and trains that will actually take the food to your table!Very cool!Happy Trails everyone!

Room Tip: Try to avoid getting a room facing the parking lot :)P.S.I Put average for spa because we did not us...

We were able to check in to our room at 1 pm, which was great. The room itself was just ok, it seemed pretty old and not updated. It was really cold outside, and there was ice forming on the INSIDE of the sliding glass door. I have never seen that before. Our thermostat could not keep up, we had to keep resetting it to keep the room warm. The kids (ages 7 and 10) had a great time at the waterpark. We found it tough to find chairs at 3 pm when we finally made it down there. We had dinner at the restaurant on premesis. It wasn't bad, and they had New Glarus Beer on tap, which was good. The next day we played at the waterpark some more and departed around noon. The room that we had was adjoining to another, and we could hear EVERYTHING that family was doing and talking about. We did not eat breakfast at the Lodge, but rather ran to Starbucks and the nearby convenience store, knowing we would save money. This was great for one night but I am glad we didnt' stay any longer, considering we were paying $200/night. Next time we will find a different waterpark.

Thank you for choosing Great Wolf Lodge – Wisconsin Dells! During the winter months, especially in harsh Wisconsin winters, we know how important it is to stay warm. I apologize that you had a difficult time with this, but hopefully you will be able to stay in one of our suites that features a fireplace on a return visit.

To help make that return trip more affordable, you will receive exclusive repeat guest discounts directly to your e-mail inbox. You also have the ability during the reservation process to request where your room is placed. Many of our guests find that staying on a higher level floor helps cut down on the amount of ambient noise they hear.

I hope you will give Great Wolf Lodge another shot!

We stayed at Great Wolf for a night as a winter retreat. It was an excellent experience. The place is geared for kids under 10 which is perfect for my family. The water park was good for kids.. a good variety of slides and my son loved the wave pool. It was reasonably priced for all of the goodies. Next time we will try the wizard experience.

We stayed one night here at the Lodge. First of all, don't plan on an earlier check-in then 4 because it's probably not going to happen. Second of all, the waterpark itself is quite small and definitely best for kids 10 and under. We were kid free this weekend and quite bored within 2 hours. There are better choices for indoor waterparks in the dells then this, especially for the price. Third, our room was good. It was quite spacious with a comfy bed and nice balcony. Overall I think you could find more bang for your buck somewhere else but if your kids are quite small, it may be the right fit.

I spent a Saturday night there in winter expecting the place to be packed. It was busy but far from crowded. The front desk service was friendly and helpful. The water park was well staffed and seemed well geared for 3 to 9 year olds. The room was clean and comfortable. Great Wolf seems to have a good product.

We have stayed at Great Wolf Lodge 2 times previously and were very happy with it. We went this time with 3 kids and stayed in the Kid Cabin suite which we had also stayed in before.

The kids totally enjoyed the long weekend of waterpark and magicquest. Last night we went down for the bedtime story and some ice cream.

Prices have gone up for many things since last time but I did not notice any improvements. In fact the room looked dated. The carpet somewhat shabby looking. They used to have a pizza hut express on the premises but now do their own pizzas which were terrible. The breakfast buffet had a good omelet station but pasties were not good. the little donuts were rock hard this morning. It is a very nice indoor waterpark with plenty of life guards.
There was not enough dresser drawer space for 2 adults and 3 small children so my husband and I had to just live out of our suitcases. they could use an extra dresser. bathroom is too small and bathtub dangerously slipper with no traction.

Room Tip: Get a top floor room so you dont hear the thumping from above. Lots of kids so noise to be expected...

Thank you for staying again at Great Wolf Lodge – Wisconsin Dells! I am glad that your children were able to enjoy themselves.

We have gone through some changes within the last year or two so that we can provide new and different options for our guests. We are always looking for ways that we can improve, so we appreciate your feedback regarding the dining facilities at the lodge.
