we stay here is this week in a 2 bedroom condo and really like the room, but when we checked in at 4 oclock the was only one front desk person doing check in it took 35 min to get checked, then during our time there the water coaster was broken down the whole time and the Mount Montezuma’s Mayan Temple was broke down to which was the main reason we choose to coming to this resort and when i ask the manager about the two ride all she told me was " things brake down" our next visit we will probably be looking at some where else to stay, sorry would of been really nice to hear from management not just Things brake down

DebH/Jr.Andrew,

We appreciate you being with us this past week and I do offer my personal apology on the waterpark rides, the replacement parts took much longer then expected. I know how dissappointing this can be for a vacation.
I do hope that you may be able to give us another opportunity in the future. Have a great rest of the summer.

My wife and I stayed in a condo with our 5 grandkids, 11 - 16. Had a great time. Condo was very nice. No problems, would recommend it. They loved the water park. stayed for 3 nights. Couldn't find remote for TV, called desk, sent up remote in minutes.

THE WORST RESORT IN EVERY ASPECT!!!!
We stayed there with our family and had a very bad experience.
ROOMS:
The rooms in the old north tower are disgusting and smelly. Everything is dirty and very worn. Mattresses were OK. NOISY ROOMS. You can hear every word that is spoken out in the hallway and vice versa. Very annoying all night long to hear people talk in the hallways.
FOOD/RESTAURNAT SERVICE:
The food at the Market Fresh Buffet (nothing was fresh and appealing) was pretty much uneatable and way below standard of any 3* hotel. the food was cold, tables not cleaned properly and sticky and service slow and unfriendly.
The concession stand in the indoor waterpark was too slow to keep up with a few people as well.
All food outlets are WAY OVERPRICED and all of them deliver slow and poor service as well as subpar food quality. Room Service is extremely slow and the Pizzas from Luigi's are soggy at best.
STAFF:
Some staff members are very friendly and helpful to the best of their abilities but it seems that upper management/owners don't care about staff turnovers or retaining good employees. Wherever we went, we got complaints from staff how poorly they were treated and regarded and that nothing was done to improve the overall appearance of the hotel.
OVERALL: DON'T EVER GO AND STAY THERE!!!!!

Gordon G.,

The feedback you provided is helpful, I do apologize that your stay was not enjoyable and that your expectations were not met.
The hotel rooms did begin a renovation this spring and will be completed late summer and fall. In addition a new concept in the Market Fresh Buffet is being developed, this does not excuse the experience you incurred.
Again I am sorry and hope that there may be an opportunity to serve you in the future.

First off let me tell you we paid 350 per night for the 2 bedroom condo for 5 days. This included nothing a normal hotel charging that much includes. No daily cleaning/bed sheet changes or even bed made up with the existing sheets... any request will cost you more money.Did you forget to pack something, too bad, it will cost you. You are lucky to get new towels and that is the ONLY thing they provide free of charge, in fact most days they said they ran out of wash cloths and didn't have any for us..... for $350 a night you can go buy new ones every day! The fridge looked like someone took a baseball bat to it with all the dents in it, and the TVs in the bedrooms were old tubes.

The worst part of the room was the beds, they needed to be replaced 10 years ago. I even found bed bugs in mine... probably would help if they would change the sheets once in awhile. One of our guests had to stay on the pull out mattress in the couch... truly disgusting. Stains everywhere and you could feel every single spring and bar. I felt bad and went and purchased a blow up mattress... again this is for $350 a night!

The views are very nice and the location is secluded and I really can say that is the only thing I enjoyed. There is no Verizon or Sprint cell coverage, but if you are outside it can be hit or miss.Internet is deathly slow.

The water park is over crowded and for the very young, I would say 13 and under. There are a few slides that adults will have fun on, but the lines during busy days just aren't worth it, and worst of all there are no pools or less spastic child-free areas to just relax. I was really surprised I couldn't find a single body of water that was deeper than 3 feet in the entire water park. We were also there when it was in the mid 90s... all drinking fountains were broken. We went to the medical assistance and asked if they knew all drinking fountains were broken, they said they have been for awhile. We then asked if there is anyway to get some water, they said we had to go buy it. And lastly I will say.... we got all this for $350 a night!

Humbletravelerxx,

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with feedback on your stay, I am sorry that you did not find the value in our condo accomodations. I do apologize for the pull out sleeper sofa, and this has been brought to the attention of the appropiate manager.
Possibly you may be able to give us another opportunity to be of service to you in the future.
Do have a good rest of the summer.

We checked into the Chula on July 14th. I called ahead and had the room decorated for my daughter's 7th birthday. It was alright looking: the door had some streamers and a sign announcing her birthday and a balloon tied to the handle, inside the room there was another sign, some balloons tossed onto the floor and a cake (which was really good). She was very pleased.

We went down to the indoor water park and played for a few hours. When we came back to the room (it had a constant old cheeseburger smell to it) and tried to call for a pizza to be delivered...there was no phone cord (the one that connects the phone to the jack in the wall). Had to go down to the lobby, complain, then use the house phone to call in our order. The cord was replaced within 10 minutes.

Our next day (Monday) went off without a hitch. Played for hours in the indoor and outdoor water parks.

By Tuesday things started to go south. We went to the outdoor park for a few hours the moved inside. The part of the indoor area where the kids 5 and over play (with the bucket dump) was not working. I asked a lifeguard what was wrong and was told that maintenance was working on it as fast as they could. She said it would be up later today or tomorrow. So, we were stuck with walking the lazy river (nowhere NEAR enough tubes for this) or riding the 8 slides which were now packed because of the other area being nonfunctional.

On Wednesday, we went back to the indoor park and discovered that the bucket dump area was STILL not working and the indoor roller coaster was now down. Asked a lifeguard again and was given the same answer. ALL areas were now extremely crowded and larger children had taken over the area for babies. Pools (inside and out) were elbow to elbow people.
We went to the arcade (purchased the Family Fun Pack and had 400 tokens). Didn't stay in there long because it was SO HOT and half of the games were broken. After dinner, we went back to the indoor park and were sad to see that it was still broken. Was miffed about this, so I went to the front desk to complain. I asked for compensation because only half of the water park was functional. Was given a choice of 100 tokens or free breakfast. We were also given late checkout.

On Thursday, we called to see if the indoor park was working. No. So we packed up, ate our free breakfast (it was pretty good for free...as far as paying, not so sure), and were gone before our Noon check out.

Melissa M.,

Glad to see that your daughter enjoyed her birthday, our event team does take pride in making a special day for you and your family.
It was unfortunate that there were mechanical breakdowns in the waterpark, the replacement parts are not an on shelf item and take some shipping time. I am sorry that this impacted your getaway.
I do hope that you may be able to visit again in the future.

The "hotel" we stayed at (not the resort condo building) was terrible. Sure...nice in the 80's when it was built but it was actually pretty crappy. Tube TV? Come on...this is 2013! Cigarette ashes on the balcony railing-besides it being sticky with some kind of drink spill. Pretty drab and worn furnishings. Very outdated. My bed had a box-spring on a box-spring which was not up to par. Bathroom was tiny and had someone else's hairs on the floor in the corner. Carpet was dated and dirty and worn and I could feel a graininess to it. Wall paper was peeling in some spots. Balcony door worked but was extremely hard to open. when it did open, the frame flexed around it by the lock area. The wallboard around the frame needed repair. Hall and room both smelled of covered-up smoke and the carpet in the hall carpet was rippled with years of wear. Could actually feel floor cracks beneath the carpet in the halls.

We ate at the Market Fresh buffet which was no exciting dining experience. Not up to standards of great tasting food. ...just below the average and over-priced. Could get better food at a Ryan's Buffet for less. Pretty basic. Wait staff was kind though....but the food was lack-luster at best.

The lower level of the hotel was hard to find your way around. The lower level was dingy and lonely feeling. Uninviting and uninspiring. A true maze to walk through if it wasn't for some of the signage. Don't let your kids walk through it alone! They'll get lost. Over all, the hotel next to the main complex was much less than gratifying and we will not stay there again nor will we suggest it to anyone else.

We stayed here because of an offering to their "Club" It's not a time-share but it comes across as the same style where they make you feel like you owe them something for getting a good deal. The "Club" promo came across as a pushy scheme. The promo/sales gal was very nice and bubbly at first. Once the free luncheon at the same lack-luster buffet was over it was a different story. She was rude, inconsiderate and pushy and lacked the knowledge of the hotel we were staying at even though it was 50 yards away. She knew nothing about the condition of the place. We knew what were were getting into with the sales promotion but once she made my wife cry I had enough. We had no problem saying "no thanks" to the "Club" offering.

I will say that they (the resort) put all their money into the waterpark and condos. The landscaping is wonderful and location is fine but it stops there. Not many smiles at either the condo front desk or the hotel front desk. The workers are foreign and sometimes come across as rude or just don't understand totally if you ask them a question about something.

Overall, with the "Club" pitch that we had to listen to, the hotel stay and the waterpark passes, we spent for one night $135 for two adults and two young kids. In return we received for listening to the pitch a one-time $100 food voucher, a $5 gift card for snacks, a can of pop and a free lunch at the meeting and a negative view on Chula Vista.

Dan H.....you have a lot of work ahead of you! Get crackin'!

GDesigner/Dan S.

Thank you for being with us and providing feedback on your visit. I am sorry that we did not meet your expectations and there were team members that you interacted that were not hospitality minded. We havbe begun a renovation of the hotel rooms and will be continuing the process this fall. In addition a new concept for the Market Fresh is in th planning stages, it provides no excuse for your experience.
We will keep you updated on our future progress and promotions.

North tower was under renovation. New carpets and bed spreads. Lighting poor. Bathroom was dingy and still needed work. Tv's were being updated to flat screens. Doors unlockedat night, Didn't like the fact you could walk in the doors without a room key-unsafe!! Looked like the rooms were heading in the right direction. The waterparks were just ok. Outdoor was small, indoor you were hit with overwhelming smell of chemicals / chlorine as soon as you walked in the door. The lighting was also dim and poor and the noise deafening. Could barely hear someone sitting next to you without screaming. Service was poor and many employess seemed to barely speak and or understand English. Made it very hard to communicate. Not sure yet if I would return again for another stay, but at least it was not as scary as some of the other reviews said it was for them. Hope chula keeps improving!
