“Beautiful Place, beautiful hosts”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 3, 2014

What a lovely discovery this B&B was. We were in West Bend on business and combined it with pleasure, and it truly was a pleasure to stay here. The house is tucked away in the woods which provides a beauty that only nature can. The trails right around the house provided us with an amazing sighting of a newly born fawn who came running up to us thinking we were momma! What an awesome experience. The hosts of Hidden Serenity, Sally and Chris, have made the home so very beautiful, without it being stuffy. All of the rooms (we got to peek at all of them) are designed to bring nature inside, with high end amenities and little wonderful extras like a wine cooler and hand cut designer soap. Everything is new and super clean. Breakfast was amazing. Sally knew we were vegetarians and made creative, delicious, healthful and bountiful breakfasts for us both mornings. Another nice feature is the laid back ambient music that is ever present in the main rooms....sort of like a "welcome inside". The area has some fun things to see including the Shalom Wildlife Zoo where most of the animals have acres of natural area to roam around. Much better than at a traditional zoo. The town of West Bend is cute with a couple good eating establishments, and of course Kettle Moraine is nearby for hiking enthusiasts. But go just for the B&B....it alone is worth the trip! We already bought a gift certificate to come back!

This place is remote, peaceful, and quiet. A nice getaway from the busy daily life. Comfortable beds, and great ambiance to help you relax. Fresh and tasty breakfast as well! Wish we visited when it was a bit nicer so we could enjoy the property more. But it allowed us to stay in and enjoy the B&B even more. Great choice.

Room Tip: Lots of personality to the Timber Ridge room

What a wonderful time we had at hidden serenity. The house was beautiful and very welcoming. This partnered with the hospitality of Chris and Sally made for a relaxing, quiet and peaceful time for us. The food was truly amazing and the variety of it enhanced the experience. The room was extremely clean, the bed was comforatable and the heated floor in the bathroom divine. We will definitely return to this B&B. If you haven't been, you are truly missing out.

Room Tip: We got to see all the rooms and they are all wonderful. You can't go wrong.

Love the sign "Almost There" as you drive up the long driveway! Makes you anticipate the experience even more. The peaceful woods keep this B&B truly hidden, but that's the beauty of this place. Chris and Sally have done a hidden talent as well, when they took the nature's beauty and brought it indoors. There a wonderful elements that they combined with high quality furnishing to make the experience truly unique. Warm cookies were ready for us at arrival. In the morning, you have to take a hike in the woods. So serene! Returning to the fabulous breakfast, including gluten free sweet bread and baked egg in a giant portabella mushroom cap was the reward, more like the prize! Oh, and the bed! Oh, so comfy! This inn would be the place to visit each season just to see the seasonal change in the woods!

Room Tip: The showers experience is luxurious. And I probably would've had a little fun on the tennis cour...

We drove through a winter wonderland and arrived at a winter paradise! Since this was our second time, we were pleased to see the swing on the porch had not been tucked away for winter. A black bear throw on the swing made it too inviting to resist.
We sat in the splendid Great Room awaiting a deer sighting. Maybe tomorrow...
We felt so at home we just hung out and had a nap in the king size bed.
Sally's breakfasts are off the chart! We noticed Chris' handiwork throughout the house.
We enjoyed perusing a well preserved magazine with Henry Ford on the cover.
A few words that come to mind are magnificent, superb, elegant, inviting.
Chris and Sally are exceptional hosts!
Hidden Serenity Bed and Breakfast awaits you!

What a wonderful time my wife and I had for her birthday at Hidden Serenity B&B. Nestled back in the woods north of West Bend sits a wonderfully charming home. Sally greeted us upon arrival by opening the beautiful entryway wooden doors to her home revealing a spacious great room w/roaring fireplace, huge windows and a soaring ceiling. A large wooden giraffe made for an especially fun accent combined with intricately designed rugs and warm, chocolate brown couches that allow you to simply sink in and relax. Upstairs is a billiard table (that we used for several games of pool), games and books and the entrance to several of the B&B’s rooms.
We stayed in the Kettle Moraine Suite located on the first floor. It was simply amazing. There is a soft golden wooden floor with a colorful carpet, floor to ceiling windows overlook the forest behind the house, and in the center of the room sits a large king sized pillow-topped bed. The sheets and abundant pillows were extra soft offer an excellent night’s sleep. The fireplace in this room is a technical marvel – with glowing faux logs, embers and an odorless vapor mimicking smoke – it is the closest thing to having a fire without actually burning something. Above the mantel, a two way mirror tastefully hides a widescreen HD TV with a DVD player. The bright bathroom has a heated tile floor, his and her sinks plus a double whirlpool tub, and a tiled shower. There is also a side room with a couple of small beds that pull down from the wall, or you can use an oversized chair in the room just to relax. There is even a small fridge in this area. Everything is brand new and super clean. There is also soft music (adjustable) on an in-house built in stereo system.
We had such a nice time simply relaxing in this romantic home and on Sunday morning awoke to find large snowflakes falling everywhere just outside our window into the tranquil forest that goes on forever behind the house. The smell of hot coffee and food preparations wafted into the room, and we made our way to the breakfast area adorned with large mounted family photos of Sally and Chris’s parents, grandparents, etc. Both Sally and Chris then prepared the nicest breakfast for us and another couple. They served fruit/granola yogurt with freshly squeezed orange juice, followed by a tasty skewer of sausage and veggies, an amazing slice of peach and blueberry French toast, a wonderfully colorful and tasty salad, plus freshly pressed coffee. We enjoyed talking to our hosts about their family and also another couple about their travels. Sally and Chris were so welcoming to us and their son even took time out of his morning to brush snow from the vehicles of the guests that day and shovel the front walk.
Hidden Serenity is close to West Bend, on the cusp of the Kettle Moraine forest, close to RiverEdge Nature Center in Saukville (nice trails to snowshoe) and across the street from the Shalom Wildlife Sanctuary (not open when we visited, but it looks like it would be a neat place to see when it opens in the spring thru late fall). Restaurants are close by and Sally and Chris can offer recommendations. We tried the Call of the Wild in Kewaskum for lunch (casual) and the Poplar Inn in West Bend for dinner (a nicer place).
We have stayed in a number of bed and breakfasts and this one soars to the top of our list. There is nothing antiquey, Victorian or otherwise here. Hidden Serenity B&B is a newer, beautiful home - crisp, clean, spacious and well-appointed. There is solid, light oak trim throughout with warm lighting. You can tell you will be well-taken care of here from the moment you enter this beautiful B&B. As we said our goodbyes and drove slowly down the tree-lined road into the falling snow, we felt blessed to have found such a charming place nestled in the quiet woods of Wisconsin. Thanks Sally and Chris, we’ll be back.
