An absolutely lovely setting on Big Cedar Lake in southern Wisconsin. Such a vacation feel, although just 1/2 hour from Milwaukee. Good food, friendly staff, hustling service, reasonably priced, occasional musical entertainment. Outside seating is so relaxing near the lake and cabins. Even in winter, the log cabin decor and feel of the interior is a virtual escape. A real Wisconsin experience.

During a recent visit back to Wisconsin, our friends recommended that we visit Timmers. They are not "foodies" but they appreciate well prepared meals. After we had dinner with them, we thanked them for sharing their recommendation. It was worth the short trip that we took from the Milwaukee area.
We found a surprising amount of sea food on the menu. I had the scallop special and they were large and prepared to perfection. We had the oyster and calamari appetizers which were fresh and delicious. My wife had a chicken salad which she praised. Others had fried perch and chicken. Both of them left nothing on their plates and commented about how they enjoyed them. Chloe, our server, was cheerful and friendly with a warm smile. Franny, the manager, visited our table and checked on our choices. I just remembered that the perch was not on the menu but our friend loves it. Franny checked with the kitchen and they had some and prepared it as our friend likes it. I found this accommodation to be very customer oriented.
The surrounding were very pleasant and we will return.

We are regulars at Timmer's and have always been extremely happy with the meals and service.
We hadn't been to their Sunday Brunch since 2013. Upon going to Brunch today with friends I have to unfortunately say we were disappointed this time. They ran out of entrees and selection of food was a bit on the skimpy side. Don't know if they have new management or what is the cause, but will now be reluctant to go back for Sunday Brunch.

Timmer's retaurant is part of Timmer's resort on Big Cedar Lake where there is a walking path along the lake. The restaurant building looks somewhat new inside and out. The bar was spacious with nice windows. There was no apparent table service. We went to the hostess at 6:30, our reservation time. She said she could seat the four of us but had only one menu. We accepted. The dining room has a large fireplace. The table was wobbly. Bread didn't come for at least 40 minutes, and service was somewhat slow. Two of us had prime rib, which melted in our mouths, with mashed potatoes and snap peas with carrots, which was delicious. I enjoyed the corn chowder soup option that came with it. Leftovers came in environmentally friendly and microwave friendly paper boxes with a foil liner to prevent the box from becoming soggy. For dessert we ordered a shaum torte to share. It was delicious but would have preferred fresh strawberries.

Restroom was nice with choice of cloth or paper towels.

A little more upscale than a usual Wisconsin tavern fish fry. Not terribly pricey, but the food is very good and it has a nice atmosphere. Beautiful grounds, nicely decorated building with old charm to it. Also on Big Cedar lake, which is nice in the summer time.
