Finding the place which is tucked back on a side street is an interesting challenge, but worth the effort. They only take reservations for groups of six or more, but we were seated quickly. Service was excellent and our waitress was constantly checking on us. We had several of the appetizers and all were incredible. The cheeses were particularly good. The bread, although it was an extra charge, was just fantastic. Main courses were served hot and wonderful. Although I would not consider everything on the menu to be "French" it was all excellent. Was here for dinner but looked at the lunch menu and that looked very good too. Will definitely come back here.

I came in for a late dinner and after waiting a few minutes for the waitress to notice me I was given a menu and ordered the scallop crepes. Within minutes I had a lovely plate of crepes, which came with a nice salad of mixed greens. The crepes were delicious, with a wonderful sauce. I would be happy to have them again.

Both service and food were average. Maître looked like he would rather be doing anything else as he marched us upstairs. Server was pleasant and efficient. Food ranged from pretty good to terrible:
Charcuterie plate: minuscule, but with a really good, teeny tiny scoop of liver pate
French onion soup: truly awful, strangely thick and completely tasteless-worst thing we ordered
Petoncles (scallops): an odd dish, scallops were nicely done, but the chorizo sauce was quite strong for shellfish, and the risotto "cake" was gluey and bad
Moules: fine, a simple dish, but although the menu lists these as "moules frites" I was served two wafer thin pieces of baguette instead and had to order the frites on the side
Frite:best thing I ordered, crisp, hot and a great aioli
Tarte au citron: very nice, but too much Italian meringue on the top interfered with tasting the lemon
Hazelnut praline cake: dry and tasteless, clearly not baked on the dame day

In all, pretty average with a few annoying details- 1. bread is not served and they charge for it. 2. The dessert case was 75% empty and what we got was hardly excellent! plus one must troop downstairs to view the offerings and order, which is strange.

I wouldn't return, and again, am amazed at what passes for excellent around Milwaukee...

We love this restaurant for breakfast or lunch. Breakfast is not full service, but the food is well worth the effort. Lunch is so relaxing, with standard French offerings. I particularly like their Quiche and Croque Monsieur and Croque Madame. The bakery is out of this world goodness.

Dinner has left us disappointed mostly because they do not seem to be able to handle the crowds. It gets very busy, and justifiably so-- the food is very good. The service not so much.

One trip was in December during peak shopping time, and we were all but forgotten just for requested water. Our food took an additional hour. Our last visit, with a reservation, for 6 we experienced the same long wait and it was not nearly as busy.

I recommend that if you can avoid eating upstairs do so, it is very loud, and very cramped. Chaotic, even. (What is up with people who think we want to hear their conversations, over our own?) It seems obvious to the customer that the staff does not like working up there, either.

We have had enjoyable dinners at the bar, 1st floor, and outside...
