The hosts were very welcoming, breakfast was excellent. Made from locally sourced food as much as possible. The Inn is very peacefull. It was a great place to watch birds, everything from Bald eagles to a large variety of woodpeckers to tiny chickadees. This was our first experience with a B&B and my wife and I very much enjoyed ourselves.

Room Tip: The Little House on the Prairie was very nice. Excellent option if you have two couples or kids. M...

Great to have you two here! We always delight in guests' appreciation of the wonderful natural area surrounding the inn. Just last week we saw a new bird to add to our life list of birds seen on our land or from our land - a flock of about a dozen Common Goldeneye (ducks) were on the Crystal River. Since we didn't talk about it in person and you mentioned it here, the Little House is always sectioned off so one party does not share any common space with another party. Both bedrooms have private entrance and each can be closed off and locked if another party rents either the room or suite - we didn't completely close off the second bedroom when you were there since there wasn't going to be anyone else in the building. Thanks again for staying with us and we'd love to see you again!

Deb and Robert were great hosts and very accommodating. We arrived late and Deb had even made apple crisp for my wife and i (we were the only guests the first night).
The breakfast room overlooks the Crystal River as it meanders behind the farmhouse and we enjoyed watching birds and squirrels through the many windows.
The common room includes a wood stove and flat screen television with a collection of DVD's for guest viewing. Deb and Robert also have a nice library open to guests.
The farmhouse was easy to find, even with the sun down, and the Crystal River B&B signs on Hwy. 22 were very helpful.
We especially enjoyed Robert's home made yogurts at breakfast, and the organic ingredients were a nice addition.
We are planning another visit when the weather warms up!

Room Tip: We stayed in the Wood Room on the south end of the farm house, and it came equipped with it's ow...

This picturesque B&B provides the quintessential retreat. The rural setting includes a lovely river view, prairie, beautiful outbuildings, a labyrinth, area hiking and boating opportunities and scores of birds. We feel right at home in this cozy inn, and so will you. The owners, Deb and Robert Benada, are gracious hosts and fabulous cooks, catering to our numerous dietary restrictions. The Benadas are health and energy conscious, serving local foods and caring for the earth in responsible ways. We love this place, and have returned many times. You will want to visit again and again.

Room Tip: Each room has its own unique character and decor. We like to try a new one each time we visit, enjoy...

What a great hidden gem! B&B is a great location in the tiny community of Rural, WI. The meandering Crystal River flows past the inn and provides a great sense of tranquility.

Deb and Robert are great hosts and made us feel at home. They were very mindful of dietary needs in preparing breakfast. Speaking of breakfast.....it was awesome. Locally sourced ingredients including some of their own garden items.

We stayed in Helen's Summer Room. Great room with lots of space, fireplace, and the cutest little porch that looks to the river.

We will be back!

You two are hearty Wisconsinites to brave the cold while enjoying the beauty of Rural, WI! We were glad to hear you had a good time cross country skiing at Hartman Creek. We too appreciate the nearness as well as wonderful resource of the State Park. We're happy to be able to make a breakfast from foods locally grown for you and were delighted to have you stay with us! Happy New Year!

This was by far one of the most beautiful B&Bs that we have visited. The Crystal River runs through the grounds and we had a fabulous view of it from The Canopy Room. The room was lovely and we enjoyed the whirlpool. Robert and Deb, the innkeepers, make you feel welcomed and at home and the breakfasts were fantastic! We would definitely go back.

What a delight to have you two here! Thanks for staying with us AND for sharing your rhubarb cookie recipe. We have so many other guests who love rhubarb that we look forward to spring and fresh garden produce. Actually, we do enjoy the peaceful transition to winter - another beautiful time of year here. Peace be with you.

Rural, WI is a place like no other, I've never seen a river that winds around so many properties in one tiny village. The Crystal River Inn is friendly, inviting, warm and unique. We stayed in the French Country Cottage--a great little romantic nest. The breakfast was easy going and meeting some of the other guests was comfortable and interesting. The grounds are really beautiful and the inn is so welcoming. After only two days we felt like family there, and look forward to a return visit. Hartman Creek State Park is just down the road--it's a beautiful park!

This was our 2nd stay at the Inn. As always, Deb and Robert were wonderful hosts. This time we came for a gathering of friends to celebrate 20th wedding anniversary. We rented the Woodland Suite and it was very roomy, quaint and accommodating to be able to serve a meal to our friends (party of 8) and dine out on the back porch. Our friends were really impressed with star gazing and seeing the Milky Way, which is a rarity for us city dwellers! Our friends enjoyed their lovely rooms inside the Inn and Sunday morning breakfast was divine! Very yummy quiche with homemade bread and jams plus fresh fruit and tomatoes from their garden. Crystal River Inn is a very tranquil and romantic place - we will definitely be back!

Room Tip: We have stayed in the Wood Room (has a nice hot tub) and the Woodland Suite; great space to include...
