Just home from an awful meal. Where to start? The first impression of course: the waitress was more interested in chatting up her friends and sister than taking care of patrons. She was clueless to the menu options and kept saying "no that isnt right that is my other job" when she would make a mistake on answering a question regarding a dish. Putting the terrible service aside - the food was lackluster and flavorless. Grilled salmon was cold, over cooked and unseasoned. Chicken Parmigan - flavorless and watery. There was a pool of water in the bottom of the bowl. I had to wander thru the empty restaurant to find someone to ask for salt and pepper be brought to our outdoor table.
Who in the world puts carrots on garlic bread? Montecito does. The garlic cheese bread was greasy and soggy. We waited 20+ minutes after our boring salads were taken away before our main course was served.
I would cut them some slack if they were busy - they were not. We were the only 2 patrons during the dinner "rush". That should have been a sure sign that this was not a desirable dining spot.
Never again will we visit Montecito.
