Review of Schoolhouse Beach

Schoolhouse Beach features smooth white stones that are delightful to touch and see and even sit amongst. Just don't take any home -- there's a $250 fine, as past collectors have dramatically impacted this treasure. If you plan to swim, bring shoes you can wear into the water. The children here were having a fantastic time piling and climbing on the stones. There's is a magical forest along the shoreline with picnic tables that make a great lunch spot on a hot day. Bathroom facilities are decent as well.

I would put that on my agenda when we visit the Island again!! The stories about that area were very interesting and the view was fantastic!

We visited this beach on labor day weekend 2013 and it was not much crowded. The beach is very beautiful and water here is super clear (due to pebbles and not sand on the beach). It reminds me of Miners Beach in Pictured Rock UP. I found it as the best part of my Washington Island visit. My 3 year old enjoyed throwing stones in water...

One of the most unusual beaches I have ever been too! Here the kids built rock castles instead of sand castles. Bring washable markers and "paint" the rocks, have rock skipping contests-water was too cold for me but the kids didn't mind. Certainly worth an afternoon visit!
