Very tried, dated and not so clean motel. No place else to stay or I would have not been there. Hotel Impossible needs to come and clean this place up. Very dated with silly decorations. Room was not cleaned well with hair in the shower. First thing was taking the gross bedspread off the bed. With a little invested with some paint, flooring, bedding and good old fashioned elbow grease it could be better.

Room Tip: If you have heavy luggage go for the downstairs room, no elevator. Better yet stay in La Crosse and commute in.

although service was great i found out i the area youre closig down the pool and making more rooms, i have had pool parties and have reccomended to more people in town. no pool i winter i can see but i think youd lose more money in the summer, the pool was FULL the day i was there no kids in the sun, cooling off inside its such a plus for your hotel. the pool goes so does many visitors and locals that lose the pool. i wont be back nor will my family or friensd

It has been a while since my last stay, but found myself in Viroqua again so stayed at the Vernon Inn and while it was adequate it was also disappointing. The room was ok although the bed was tired and there were a couple areas of well stained floor. Despite this slept ok. The bathroom was fine and perhaps less tired than the rest of the room. Breakfast? I'm not sure it really qualified as breakfast with some prepackaged danish and a very dry pre-cut coffee cake. With some of the really good bakeries in the area it's surprising they didn't bring something fresh in. On the plus side the price was right and the location was convenient, but may look at travelling in from LaCross or Sparta the next time rather than staying in Viroqua....

This was an OK hotel, even though it is April the sign as you enter states "The pool is closed for the season". I didn't know that April was still winter

We stayed at this place several years ago, really a good deal then. Not so much these days! The pool had a hand drawn "CLOSED" sign taped to the door. "Too expensive to run in the winter" said the lady at the desk. No reduction in room rates for the "No Pool" though. But ... my chief complaint was the lack of non-slip strips in the steel tub/shower, and NO hand grips! I slipped and almost went down, but recovered. Upon check out I told the clerk, who replied, "Oh yeah, none of the tubs have no slip grips. I'll tell the owner on Monday." My reply was, "Hmmm - it would seem that those would be a whole lot cheaper than defending yourself in an injury lawsuit." No further response was received.

The place was clean, the sheets were very well done, and it was VERY QUIET. Even though it was Thanksgiving weekend, and there were hunters everywhere, there were exactly 13 vehicles in the parking lot in the morning - there's room for at least 60. I guess everyone else got the word. The Wednesday evening clerk was very helpful. The maid service seemed to be really good.

My recommendation? FIRE THE OWNER! OPEN THE POOL! RAISE THE WAGES OF THE staff! OCCUPY THE VERNON INN! :-)

Room Tip: Demand a rate reduction of at least $20 for the NON-POOL, or else stay someplace else.
