The Lighthouse is in dire need of a freshening. The interior looks like it was decorated in the early seventies by one's grandmother: shabby carpet, matching chintz for the bedspread and curtains, kitchy trim, vending machines in the hall. To its credit, the rooms are big and the price reasonable, so a decent value. The reception staff needs to avoid eating their supper at the moment guests are trying to check in. The over-crowded exercise room is like a museum of outdated equipment, much of it unsafe (exposed rusty metal corners, etc.)

We stayed at the Lighthouse Inn on a Saturday night before a Packers game in Green Bay and then went back and stayed after the game on Sunday night. Saving some money we stayed at a "Parkside" room, which we found out actually means "parking lot". That was okay as we enjoyed the lake view from the bar, restaurant and walking along the beach. Our room was a bit musty smelling but was clean and comfortable. We enjoyed a nice prime rib dinner in the restaurant and drinks in the bar.

I just spent some time at the Lighthouse Inn and thoroughly enjoyed every minute. The staff are lovely, the food in the restaurant is fantastic, which was how I found this Inn in the first place, and the room was large and clean. The simple style was charming and soothing, the sounds of the waves, the full moon shining on the lake, waking up to gulls and the early sun coming up made for a very nice stay. The price was very reasonable also!
If I would change anything, it would be to add a balcony to each room to take advantage of the amazing views of Lake Michigan.
I'll be back in about a week or so with a friend from Chicago to enjoy another visit at a great restaurant and hotel.

We had family staying here and decided to get a room and have a "family reunion" of sorts in the bar and had a fabulous time, the Lighthouse Inn was very accomodating to our needs(20+ people showed up-only 4 of us stayed there), the customer service was outstanding. Yes the rooms are out-dated, but they are VERY clean and comfortable for the price. I have stayed in several of the Hotels in Manitowoc over the years and for the location and convenience of having a restaurant and bar right there and the Staff I don't think I will ever stay anywhere "in the area" again. We were able to walk right outside from the Bar and take some amazing family photos.....the pool and hot tub were a great! If you are in town whether it be Manitowoc or Two Rivers I would highly recommend this place..we even left some pictures there and the Hotel called us to ask if we wanted them mailed to us, I have left things at other hotels that never called me to even let me know that I left anything behind. Thank you Lighthouse Inn for the wonderful time.....we will be back!

We just stayed in this hotel for 2 nights. None of the park side rooms were available, so we had to pay extra for the lake view. The view was nice, but not worth the extra money, and there was no balcony. The room was filthy: hair on the "clean" sheets and in the tub, animal crackers and a pill on the floor near the bed. Yuck! The whole hotel is old and smells pretty musty in the hallway, although the room smelled okay. We had breakfast in the restaurant, which was pretty good. The room was a good size. If we didn't need to be close to Two Rivers, we would have definitely stayed in Manitowoc at a newer place. The pool was okay, but not especially warm.

Just back from 2 days/nights going up to, and back from Door County. Had two types of lake views, Partial view of sunset in rooms facing Manitowoc, straight ahead Lake Michigan in the other. As noted, window open was a beautiful serenade of crashing waves. The rooms were clean. Seemed to be updated from prior reviews. This is not a "mint on the pillow" experience, but met our expectations for the AARP price of $118/nite tax incl. (lakeview, second floor)

Restaurant very convenient, nice staff, and apparently new'ish chef since March has improved the menu since other reviews. Some items are as good as any high priced place - planked salmon, pasta/pesto with chicken, asparagus. Soups and breads were wonderful, HOT from the oven. Fabulous view of lake just steps from the table, with seasonal outdoor seating. What a nice surprise to have live folk music in the adjoining bar.

We love to come back to this place; this is the best location and we enjoy sleeping with the windows open and having to fall asleep listening to the waves sound.
We love the fact the place has great amenities, the hot tub, the pool, the bar and restaurant in the same building;
it's always fun to be able to walk on the lake shore just feet away from the building.
Great experience, the staff make it easy to check in and there is some flexibility to that as well. Overall, it was a great experience!
