Our first experience at Apple Holler and it was a huge disappointment! You are nickle and dimed to death - from $5 parking to paying to enter into the actual picking/activity area. We called ahead and were told they were picking apples so we made the hour drive and stood in line for about 30 minutes to find out that a half hour before, they had no apples left on the trees to pick - only bins of already picked apples. We stood in another long line for donuts and cider to find out that a gallon of cider (and not very good cider at that) was $14.95! I was shocked! It's a shame that a family oriented attraction has become so commercialized and out of reach cost-wise one can't afford to take their family anymore. Totally disappointing!

Apple Holler is a combination restaurant/dinner theater, country store (stocking Wisconsin wines, and apple goodies), petting zoo, farm-themed attraction, orchard and u-pick.

It was the first Saturday of the fall and all of the attractions were in full operation. As we arrived too late to u-pick, there were plenty of pre-picked apples (of the desired varitites) available for purchase. The lines at the bakery (where they sell some excellent pies) moved reasonably well for the crowd. Parking on the I-94 frontage road was backup up, but there was another lot available.

We decided to have dinner at the restaurant. The wait was not too long (less than 5 minutes--great for a Saturday night when you don't have reservations). For weekends, I recommend reservations--especially when they have dinner threater shows. Unsurprisingly just about everything on the menu had apples somewhere (e.g. applewood-smoked bacon, apple sauce on the side), not unlike the diner in Monty Python's spam sketch. My wife an ala carte meal with cheddar soup and potato pancakes (served with applesauce). I had a brat with a potato pancake, cheddar soup and house salad (yes apples in that). The server was friendly, the food was served promptly and at appropriate temperatures. The potato pancakes were quite good.
