“Extremely Disappointed!”
Reviewed October 27, 2012

We love to stay in Sturgeon Bay and were recently disappointed by our usual B&B so we decided to try White Lace Inn. The room was clean but very uncomfortable. If you wanted to watch television, you could only watch it from the bed or the whirlpool tub. We were tempted to sit in the empty tub. The shower had two shower heads - one gave only cold water and the other needed 20 minutes to warm up. The water pressure was slight - like a public restroom hand sink. We never saw the cookies - or we offered any cookies! The breakfast was merger - served on a dessert sized plate. We will not be back - very disappointing!

Dennis the Inn keeper and the staff did a great job. Very flexible to meet your every need. Location was perfect. We stayed in room 3. This would be a great place for a family girls weekend away. Food was fantastic, and when we requested oatmeal on a day we wanted to skip the sweets and it was perfectly made. I hate runny Oatmeal! Really beautiful landscaping. We showed up late and there as a free chest of iced beer waiting at the door. Dennis recommended several restaurants and we thoroughly enjoyed The Inn at Cedar Crossings, and for late night the Neighborhood pub was great. The Sturgeon Bay festival was going on in town with a great car show and great music. Bed was a double and a little soft but overall a great stay!

We spent our anniversary at the White Lace Inn and we felt at home. We've stayed many times over the past decade and usually enjoy it as a home base as we explore Door County. Much has changed over time, but we still find it to feel like our home away from home. We used to get these "welcome notes" which was a nice touch, but that seems to be no longer their practice... Bonnie appears not to be involved (I do miss her), but we felt Dennis and the other staff do a fine job. And, of course, the cookies... I think I gained a pound just in cookies!

Room Tip: We've stuck to the main house-- Orchard and the suite are lovely.

We were in the garden house. Our room was cozy and quiet, our bed was comfortable. We had a small porch and with the windows open, we could here the waterfallin the pond. The bathroom was roomy enough with good water pressure although the water was very hard. The a/c woke us up squealing in the night, but they provided a fan, and it stayed cool enough to keep the windows open. The breakfast was not acceptable. We did not know what to expect and we were not asked about our pref, there was one option (they feed 16 rooms) other inns give us options. The choices we had were not gourmet and our first meal had peppers, needless to say I didn't have breakfast that day. The dog was a problem for me, because he kept barking at another guest who had fed him. If I were to stay again, I would request a discount to forgo the breakfast. There are plenty of great places to dine (lots of bakeries and ice creameries) so skipping breakfast would be a good idea.

We stayed at the White Lace Inn in late July. The innkeeper could not have been nicer. It was surprising to read other reviews with negative comments. Our room was lovely, comfortable and relaxing. The grounds are also pretty.. The breakfast was fine and I tend to be food fussy. I enjoyed the old fashioned accommodation. We walked down to a huge resort on the water called Stone Harbor. It looked nice but when we stopped by there for lunch on our way back, there were busloads of overweight people jockeying for position at a very mediocre salad bar. The White Lace Inn has way more going for it. Dennis recommended several restaurants and we thoroughly enjoyed The Inn at Cedar Crossings. Delicious food and reasonably priced. Door County is not Chicago. It's primary charm is that it is offbeat and a bit quirky.

We just returned from three days at the White Lace Inn in Sturgen Bay, WI. Stayed in Suite"16" The accommidations were good with a few execptions, we were satisfied with our room. However the owner Dennis was clearly unfriendly and very uninterested in being a host. Additionally, we were served egg and cheese and some type of meat either sausage or ham crossants that were microwaved, some yougart and fruit, and juice and a scone and not at all home made two of the three days we ate breakfast there with no option of anything else. All in all for 200.00 per night we were quite dissappointed and wouldn't ever consider staying there again.

My wife and I had received a gift certificate for the Inn. We picked one of the most expensive rooms available, Room B in the Washburn House. It was a wonderful two-room suite, with a very comfortable Queen Bed, double-sided fireplace, and large bathroom with 2 person whirlpool tub. Check-in was very easy, and overall the accommodations were nice. We did not spend much time in the main house, except for check-in and out and breakfast. Breakfast left something to be desired. We were shown a table along the wall, service was extremely slow, and I left breakfast being hungry. I understand serving only 1 item each day, but the portion was a bit on the small side. We actually stopped at a Gas Station on the way out of town for some snacks. While not liking to mention undesirable qualities, I feel the honesty in my reviews will help fellow travelers like my wife and I. We would probably not stay back at the Inn visiting Sturgeon Bay, and would look for another B&B to try instead with a better breakfast experience. Our room was fantastic, we both slept great, but the breakfast experience was extremely lacking.
