“A Warm Welcome”
Reviewed March 4, 2013

Just returned from a one-night stay at the Reynolds House B & B. There were no surprises. Everything I had read about the B & B proved to be true. The home has intriguing touches from years gone by - a wide front porch, beautiful woodwork (made possible because the Reynolds family owned a lumber mill as well as cherry orchards), a small reading nook on the 2nd floor, fireplace, and beveled glass windows.

Heather is a very helpful hostess who is able to provide information so that her guests can make the most of their stay. We found the McIntosh Room to be homey with a spacious bathroom. We were told that the bathroom was formerly the playroom when the Reynolds family lived there.

Since we were the only guests on a Sunday night, the house was exceptionally quiet. We found cookies waiting for us on the bed upon returning from dinner. The cookies and the many magazines that were available made for a wonderful pairing.

Breakfast was served at 8:30 in the sun room. We started out with a nut bread, fresh strawberries, chilled orange juice, and a wonderful pot of coffee. That was followed by French toast with a tasty topping that included fresh blueberries. Before we knew it, it was 10 o'clock and time to head to the beautiful Sturgeon Bay YMCA (conveniently located about a mile straight east of the B & B) to wear off some of the calories from a delicious breakfast,

The area surrounding the Reynolds House is a very safe neighborhood, within walking distance of the downtown area. In the surrounding neighborhoods, there are numerous, historic homes that would make for a delightful walking tour during warmer months.

This B&B has wonderful, historic finishes. It is very clean and well-maintained. Its location provides easy access to all of Door County. The owner listens to what you are interested in doing/seeing, and makes fantastic recommendations about how to best enjoy your time. She provides maps and information that can be secured from the tourism office, but gives great insight to your activities. The food was wonderful and tremendously bountiful. We were completely stuffed! She makes snacks available throughout the day and even leaves cookies for you at night. Only two things kept me from reviewing it higher than average. First, the bedrooms are just that...average. I appreciated the cleanliness, but nothing stood out beyond that. Second, is that the tremendously laid-back atmosphere may not work for everyone. Breakfast was served at one time slot (I've usually been offered a small window of time) and was a lengthy ordeal. Great if you want to stick around and relax, but challenging if you have an active day planned (or a tee time...).

Heather, the owner, is perhaps one of the most down to earth people we've met in a long time. She's very informative, genuine, and will make you feel like you've known her for years. It was our first time in Door County and she not only gave us some terrific suggestions, but she actually seemed interested in the time we were having in Door County. I loved the time she spent with us and I loved the little history info on the house and the area! A much different experience from the other B&B we stayed in the night before.

The house is very nice and detailed. It had a great smell and decor. It was warm and inviting and we can't wait to go back! Meet Heather and you'll know what I'm talking about!

During a visit to Door County, we had the good fortune to stay at the Reynolds B&B for a couple of nights. It was a very enjoyable visit: the house itself is gorgeous, and the lady, Ms. Hull, a perfect hostess. She was able to accomodate our situation (2 adults, 2 kids) by arranging for us to have the top suite plus a small room down some stairs. The suite was great! -- bedroom, sitting room and enormous bathroom (though the upper stairs are narrow, best negotiated with smaller bags). Treats and goodies were plentiful; and the breakfast each morning was varied and obviously the result of painstaking care. As first-time visitors to the area, we were also grateful for the time Ms. Hull took to acquaint us with the worthwhile sights and relevant shops throughout the peninsula. The Reynolds House is located a few blocks northeast of the downtown, so is very quiet at night. There are a couple of small parking places off on the side, so one may not have to park streetside. Overall, a memorable stay at one of the finest B&Bs we've had the pleasure to experience.

My wife and I had stayed with Heather Hull at Reynolds House B&B two years ago and loved her place and hospitality. When some friends inquired whether or not we'd like to return this year, we jumped at the chance. We stayed in the Cortland Room this visit (Granny Smith Room in 2009). It was lovely and quiet, my only minor complaint being that there is a table and lamp only on one side of the bed. Other than that, the room was large and comfortable, serving us well for a five-night stay 6/5 to 6/10/11. It has an enormous bath with a separate shower stall, sink, and towel bureau nook/table with plenty of room for all of our stuff. Honestly though, we spent little time in our rooms except for sleeping or changing. We toured Door County or Sturgeon Bay during the day coming back to Reynolds House for porch-time relaxation and cocktails before dinner. After dinner at a number of great local restaurants, it was back to the porch for us. The place is very laid back and welcoming.

Breakfasts were a real treat. Heather is a gourmet cook and prepares breakfasts with flair. In the past, when we ate the entire breakfast, there was no need for lunch. Now we're on the Weight Watchers Plan (which went out the window a bit during our week's stay) so we split the usual portion, enjoyed Heather's heavenly breakfasts, and didn't get too happy with calories.

Reynolds House in Sturgeon Bay is a great place to stay. We’ll visit again soon.

This is truly a wonderful place to stay in Door county. Heather does an excellent job welcoming you and explaining the history of the house. We got the suite and enjoyed the privacy of having the whole 3rd floor. I highly recommend this b and.

Enjoyed spending three nights at this B&B. Great bedding, loved the large porch, interesting building. Heather did a great job with breakfast and was very helpful in pointing us to the best sights in Door County. Good location within 4 blocks of downtown Sturgeon Bay. We enjoyed a wonderful meal at the Inn at Cedar Creek (recommended by Heather) in Sturgeon Bay. Spent most of our time exploring other parts of Door County. Only ventured into downtown Sturgeon Bay one evening.
