I (finally) had the opportunity to eat at Wanda Jean's (846 Egg Harbor Road) in Sturgeon Bay with a good friend. We were able to order the oven roasted turkey and the Henny Penny (broasted) chicken dinners during lunchtime. Both of us chose sweet potato wedges for one of our two sides and also tried out the soup and salad bar (for the other). My white meat turkey breast was moist (as was the stuffing) and the gravy was light and not too heavily spiced. On the soup and salad bar, the chicken dumpling soup was delicious-sweet carrots, celery, onion in a light broth with chunks of chicken and plump, chewy little dumplings-yumm!!! Our server was solicitous but not over-bearing and we both enjoyed the casual ambiance--especially loved all the chicken-themed decorations!!! After looking over the menu and enjoying the soup and salad offerings, I cant wait to come back again--perhaps to try their (all-you-can-eat) Friday night seafood buffet (with shrimp) from 4-8pm or the Sunday brunch buffet from 8am-2pm--both look appealing on their menu. Wonder if anyone lately has eaten a world-famous 4 1/2lb patty Silo Burger with its side of 2lbs of fries?!! (We filled up so much on the soup and salad bar, that we took most of our generous dinners home to enjoy!!!) Wanda Jean's is open all year 'round Monday through Sunday 7am to 9pm and is (very) conveniently located just down the road from Walmart, so everyone should make a point of dining here for some good home-cooked food at (very) reasonable prices!!! There is also a specialty cake and catering menu offered on their online website--the wedding cakes looked beautiful and I am wondering just what the cherry meatballs taste like?!!
