“LOVED this place - one of my favorites!”
Reviewed September 29, 2008

This is our second time staying in Sturgeon Bay, but our first experience at the Bridgeport.

We stayed in the Challenger Suite - GORGEOUS. The pictures don't do this place justice. The whirlpool is HUGE. (the largest I have ever been in!) It was very romantic (but not in a cheesy way) The room was immaculately clean, and so comfortable. It was the kind of place that instantly makes you feel relaxed. Such comfortable beds too! The staff was so friendly and helpful.
The resort is within walking distance to the bridge, and to Applebee's. (not that you will want to leave the room!)

We stayed at many places during our trip up and down Door County, but wished we had stayed at the Bridgeport for the entire vacation. It was an absolutely amazing experience, and will never stay anywhere else when in Door County. By far, one of my favorite rooms ever.

Our family (2 adults, 3 children under 8) stayed at Bridgeport Resort in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin for 3 nights and loved it. From check in to check out it was a very memorable stay. The daily "make-up" service was wonderful and freshened up the room with exceptional attention to detail. Our room was upgraded free of charge to a room with a partial view. (The view is spectacular and would be well worth the extra money!!) Within walking distance to some shopping, a park, food, and a coffee shop that roasts its own coffee! The complimentary beverage station is a nice touch. We went to a grocery store and stocked our fridge to cut back on the eating out. We are looking forward to visiting Sturgeon Bay again and will stay at Bridgeport again. This area is so gorgeous, friendly and peaceful that we are considering relocating to Door County.

We were very pleased with our 4-day stay Bridgeport Resort. The suite was very clean and housekeeping did a great job each day we were there. The kitchen was fully equipped for cooking or for making quick meals and coffee, juice and milk were available 24-hours/day downstairs. The staff at the front desk was very pleasant and helpful with directions and suggestions for restaurants. The resort has a beautiful setting near the water and is close to restaurants and shopping in Sturgeon Bay. The pool and hot tub were very nice and there's also a very nice exercise room.

The only downside was the driving distance to the other towns in Door County but we knew that before we made the reservations. Egg Harbor was about 20 minutes away, Fish Creek 30 mins., Ephraim 35 mins & Sister Bay 40 minutes. We were there around Thanksgiving so there was little traffic but it could be more of a problem in the summer driving back and forth if you plan to spend a lot of time in the other towns. Other than that we would recommend this resort to anyone.

We found a much better value at Bridgeport than Stone Harbor. We had a 2 Bed 2 Bath waterfront suite with fireplace, kitchen, jaccuzi tub, and 2 seperate balconies for 249 during offseason. We were stuck there during a snow storm and couldn't have been happier about it.
They had a great indoor pool and hot tub and a seperate childrens area and sauna area. plenty of seating inside.
They had a place to get drinks open 24 hours.
My husband and I were visiting family with my mother. We had plenty of privacy as the rooms were across the living room from each other.
Both bathrooms had seperate showers.
overall---stay here---you'll be happier and more comfortable than at stone harbor.

Just returned from a terrific stay at the Bridgeport Resort. We were traveling with 2 other families so got to see 3 different rooms - all of which were very well kept, clean and comfortable. Perfect for families. Kitchens were all well stocked and having the extra bedrooms for a very reasonable rate was great. If I were traveling without the kids I'd probably look elsewhere (maybe their sister property the Westport) as this place did have a lot of children on the property. Our kids ranged from ages 3-8 and all were kept busy by the indoor and outdoor pools and the play area. The splash park part of the pool was fantastic for the little ones! The juice (and milk) machines in the common area were also great for the kids. It's about a 20 minute drive to Egg Harbor from here - not super convenient for the "touristy" sites of Door County but not too bad. There is a very small city operated beach about a block from the hotel - it was ok. All in all a great stay.

  • Liked — size and cleanliness
  • Disliked — location, a bit on the south side of Door County

We were again steered to a great experience by the these forums. We stayed here the week of July 10, 2006 and were impressed with the immaculate conditions of our three-bedroom suite. The rate (discounted by 15% for a special we found on the resort website) was good for a full kitchen, three bathrooms, a whirlpool, three balconies and living room with fireplace. There is no restaurant on premises but plenty in the area, including within walking distance. There is free juice, milk, coffee and hot chocolate in the lobby 24/7. There is both an indoor and outdoor pool, neither of which were crowded when we were there. Very friendly staff.

Just got back from the Wisconsin Dells (stay at Indian Trails Motel) and a couple days in Door County. Travelling with my hubby, and 3 kids (13, 10, 7) and had a great time at the Bridgeport! I am honestly saying that this is one of the nicest rooms I have ever been in. We had room 126, a family suite and it had a great lay out with a full kitchen, living room and two king-bedrooms off either side of the living room. Pools, inside and out were fun, very clean, with waterfalls, play area, spa and sauna. Kiddie play room with a ball pit, too. Compementary drinks in the lobby--and a small beach within walking distance.

Definitely eat at Donnie's, which the very knowledgeable and NICE folks at the desk will help you find. Really great food, greater ambiance and views of the bay, and attentative service as well. We thought we had the best prime rib here in Ohio, but I don't know. . . . (the crab cakes were pretty good too).

The peninsula is interesting, kind of New-England-y, worth a drive and Whitefish Dunes beach was cool--we had mist-fog, but it looked like it would really be jammin' on a hot summer's day!

Enjoy the Bridgeport--it is a really great resort, and very helpful people there, as well--God, I love the midwest!
