“Don't Know What Happened!”
Reviewed September 10, 2012

Most of my reviews are positive, particularly about Door County establishments (Holiday Music Motel, Blue Front Cafe, Old Post Office for fish boils). This one is not.

My wife and I last visited Door County Coffee and Tea in 2010, but not on a Monday, which advertises it is open for breakfast at 7:30 am. We arrived, bringing 3 friends with us, and were the only guests in the dining room, at 7:45 am today. There was only one person handling the dining room, the counter and making pies and frosting rolls. Service was therefore slow. This place prides itself on roasting and serving the finest coffee; however, the coffee we were served was weak and tasteless. We could almost see the bottom of the full cup. We would have called this miss-brew to someone's attention, but as noted above, service was slow. Our party ordered various versions of the baked egg dishes, but they were disappointing. It looks like the restaurant bakes the identical egg squares in advance, the heats them up (microwave?) with different cheeses and meat toppings. The cheese was hard and the meat dry. When we were able to get fresh cups of coffee, reported to be a new cup of the house Columbian, they were better, but still nothing out of the ordinary. In general, not the nearly the experience we had touted to our friends. If you plan to go, don't do it on a Monday!

We can't thank you enough for writing and letting us know we've disappointed you. Sharing your concerns and experience made us look at our performance and we have to agree with you, we fell short. We are sincerely sorry and hope you will give us another chance to win you over. You were right, we were short-handed. Our kitchen team has been one short due to a week-long illness and we just didn't staff adequately, we didn't monitor the food and we simply weren't at our best. Please give us another chance, and we invite you back for a complimentary breakfast. I recall seeing your party of 6, sitting in front of the fireplace and ask that you do come back...we want you to remember Door County the way you used to, as a place with great food, coffee and service!

Sincerely, Vicki Wilson, Found & CEO

“"SupervBreakfasts"”
Reviewed August 22, 2012 via mobile

My husband and I came here in 2008 while he was courting me. We found this "jewel" but had no way of telling others. Now I can since I have the app for "Tripadvisor"on my iPhone-4. So we came back. Man!! It has gotten better!! We both had quiche and fresh fruit with Blueberry Bran muffins!! Fresh that am!!!
We are always happy to come here. The service was not very good. Oskanna, our waitress, asked her more coffee, took 5 minutes, but didn't pour for my husband. We just were dumb numbed. But the owners son came over and poured us coffee after that and a huge smile! Gave one back. She was from Russia. But needs more customer service skills. We will be back here yes due to the atmosphere and the owner son! Thank you!!

How fun! We are so glad that Door County Coffee has had such a special place in your relationship and that you think of us so fondly. We are also thrilled to hear that your experience here gets better each time you visit. The Cafe staff works so hard to offer only the best homemade entrees, so it is wonderful to hear that it is paying off! Service is also extemely important, almost just as important as a great meal, so we are sorry to hear about your experience with Oksana. We don't actually have an Oksana or any students working here from Russia so that may have been a little mix-up with another place you visited in Door County. However, we are still going to pass this on to our team as a reminder of just how important good customer follow-through is! On the other hand, both my college-age sons do work here, so hopefully the nice smile and good service you received was from one of them:) Looking forward to seeing you on your next visit to Door County!! “Excellent breakfast and great coffee”
Reviewed August 18, 2012

Lovely setting and first class service and food. Quiche is available rather than the always normal eggs for breakfast. Also has a nice gift shop.

“Disappointing”
Reviewed July 28, 2012

My husband is a coffee fanatic, and he thought the coffee was very weak. My quiche was not fresh and was covered with rubbery cheese that had been reheated. The muffins were excellent, however.

“Cute Place”
Reviewed July 21, 2012 via mobile

This is a great place to stop for a quick lunch before hitting all of the shops and boutiques of Door County. The sandwiches are fresh and good. They also have an Impressive collection of teas, coffees, and brewing equipment. It's also part of a little strip mall, so you can walk off your lunch browsing souvenirs, pet treats, and candles.

Sounds like you enjoyed our wonderful little Village of Carslville on your travels further north into Door County, just like so many others do as well. Thanks for making us a stop on your recent trip!
