“Pleasant peaceful location and a great spa in a plain motor inn.....”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 24, 2013

Not all it could be. They've gone way too cheap on some things: the bathroom products, newer but poor quality mattresses, and continental breakfast - couldn't drink the coffee or the watered canned juice, and did not try the thawing "waffles". Certainly breakfast did not match the written description at all and this is true on the whole. There exist many written descriptions that just don't match this place and sadly miss the opportunity to describe the many actual assets. The rooms are very "motor inn" ugly (but with nice lamps) -- one long one-story building surrounded by parking lots with rooms off a long single hallway. All those over-blown descriptions may cause some people to be disappointed as I was! They could describe instead the wonderful pool area, great saunas, and peaceful setting. Walking around in the woods and watching over the bird feeders was great. The spa area seems like it should be attached to a famous lodge, if it had pool towels. There is a gift shop of empty shelves and stored file boxes, a cooler partly filled with some refreshments to buy. This lobby area has the sign "Visitor's Center" out front. An odd place. In transition? It wouldn't take much to make this place great.

Room Tip: All rooms about the same. "Breakfast" is time to watch the birdfeeders but fix your own co...

Excellent location and price for area if you are visiting Taliesin and/or American Players Theatre. Set in quiet countryside. Rooms with two queen beds are roomy and comfortable, with some FLW touches. Hotel has lap pool and fitness room. Rate includes expanded continental breakfast. Restaurant is limited for dinner. I would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Choose a room with two beds. It costs about $10.00 more, but has more room.

This is our favorite place to stay when we attend the American Players Theatre . Located close to the theatre grounds, the Inn often has campfire chats after the play. Rooms are decorated with Frank Lloyd Wright prints and mission furniture. Clean and comfortable.

Like a lot of other guests, we visit to spend the night after a late show at American Players Theater. Everyone involved in running the Inn is friendly and personable, and we really enjoyed sitting out by the fire pit after APT performances. The actors don't usually come by, but one night this year we ended up talking about Shakespeare with the actor who had just played Hamlet's ghost. Not bad.

Their pool and spa facilities are outstanding. We try to come early so we can spend as much time relaxing in their whirlpool tub, steam room, and large swimming pool. The restaurant is quite good too, with tasty dinners and breakfasts -- not gourmet but satisfying and very convenient. The rooms are compact and efficient with older but still perfectly functional appliances like air conditioners. It's a little rustic for city slickers like us, but we were comfortable enough.

We have come to this hotel multiple times each summer to see plays at American Players Theater. It has always had extremely friendly staff and owners. This year, it seems as though it has been spiffed up. The restaurant food definitely has been upgraded. The Friday fish fry, wn old Wisconsin tradition, was the best I have had in years and I had to fight to keep my husband from eating all my rosemary potatoes. He isa vegetarian and raved about his pasta dish, which they made with vegetarian red sauce special for him.

I love the pool and made good use of a treadmill.

Room Tip: The wifi is a little weak in the middle of the hotel.

Room was clean and fresh. Simple decor. Liked the Frank Lloyd Wright posters better than most motel "art." Bed was quite firm, which I generally like, but this could have used a softer mattress topper. Plenty of extra pillows and blankets. Ice was pre-bagged, a nice convenience. Breakfast was above average for motel freebies and the best part of it was looking out the windows at multiple bird feeding stations and bird baths which attracted at least 4 kinds of birds as we sat there. Not a full-scale restaurant, but the lounge bar is open and serves desserts after the APT play. It was a fine day while we were there and many guests sat on the deck reading. My friend was glad to see tread mills in the fitness room so she could continue her normal daily routine. Ours was a quick trip just to see one play. I would definitely come again, especially for a longer stay in the area, and recommend it to friends. For this area the Spring Valley Inn is an excellent value.

This motel has a great location. We loved the peaceful country setting. Nearby APT, Taliesen, House on the Rock. Pool/ hot tub were clean and nice. On the downside the beds were uncomfortable, on platforms not boxsprings and much of the motel smelled like mold and room freshener.

All of our queen beds are mounted on enclosed oak frames featuring a full box spring support mattress, topped with an extra thick regular mattress. Mattresses are such a personal preference, I apologize for any inconvenience john
