Really enjoyed a light lunch here. Good, grainy bread with lots of fillings. Great coffee...Starbucks. And desserts....yumm! Ya gotta stop if you come to Spooner, WI!

“Quite disappointed”
Reviewed May 15, 2014 via mobile

My friend and I stopped in for lunch today because all the reviews make it sound great. We were disappointed. Maybe they just had an off day, but it was bad. We didn't even finish what we ordered.
We shared a burger which was completely blah, and a burrito which was also blah. Nothing was seasoned.
We will try it one more time, because the idea behind the place seems good, it was not well executed today.

“Best breakfast in N Wisconsin”
Reviewed March 30, 2014

Located in a quaint old building in downtown Spooner, WI, this place offers the best cooking in the area. The Egg Scramble is outstanding; not all greasy & made with fresh vegetables mixed into the eggs. Lunch & dinner menus are limited but most can be prepared gluten free. A pro chef works here. Order at the counter & your food is delivered. It's sometimes a little slow but a relaxing place.

“what a find!”
Reviewed March 9, 2014

There are only 3-4 entrees on the weekend dinner menu at the Spooner Market and Grill, so just pick one at random---you can't go wrong. There's a lot to look at (art for sale, books, etc), so you'll almost be disappointed when your salad arrives. You'll barely be finished with it when your entree is served, piping hot and lovingly plated. We sampled two of the four choices on a recent Saturday night, both were delicious (chicken and goat cheese tamales, and salmon cakes). Dessert! Don't forget dessert! The two we tried were chocolate cake (huge slice, very moist) and blueberry blintzes. I almost forgot I was in WI....

“A foodie's favorite”
Reviewed March 4, 2014

When Harvard-English-major-turned-chef Betsy abandoned the corporate world for the northwoods, it was Chicago's loss and Spooner's gain. Weekend dinners are where this place really shines. Betsy's menus are creative and inventive, with three or four entrees to choose from (in addition to the daily menu of sandwiches, burgers, etc.) Betsy uses locally sourced ingredients whenever possible. Her creations are always very good, almost always great and often brilliant. Love her desserts! She has a nice wine list at reasonable prices. The menu indicates which choices are vegan and which are gluten free. If this restaurant were in a metro area, it would be standing-room-only every Friday and Saturday evening.
