“Friendly, cozy and very clean - Fast WIFI - I will stay here again.”
Reviewed March 30, 2012

I've stayed at the Green Acres a number of times as well as the other places in Spooner Wisconsin. I regularly come to town to visit family and stay thru the weekend. Due to a disappointing and disturbing experience with the staff at the Best Western Motel in Spooner, this is the only place I will stay at in Spooner.

Last week I stayed 2 nights at the Green Acres Motel to visit family thru the weekend - There were only a couple other people there on Friday night and it was quiet and peaceful. I sat outside near a pine tree and enjoyed the unseasonably warm spring evening and sunset - it was picturesque. The owners were very friendly and checked me in with extra pillows at my request. WIFI internet here is important to me for keeping updated with work and its very fast - probably the fastest i've ever seen at a motel which is a nice thing to find.
THANKS FOR THE NICE STAY- I WILL BE BACK!

I stayed there for about 3 weeks in January 12'. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Clean rooms. Low cost. It was better then expected and outside of town just a bit where noise and lights weren't bothersome at all.

Only negative was uncomfortable pillows. Easy fix for 5$ though.

If you are expecting the type of hotel where Martha Stewart stays, you will be disappointed here. On the other hand, if your focus is on comfort and a homey feeling, come right in.

We have been staying at Green Acres during an annual trip to Spooner for more than ten years. The owners could not be friendlier or more accommodating. We have some special requirements that the owners graciously met, whereas other hoteliers turned us down with virtually no thought as to how they could meet our needs.

Yes, the room may have been "tired" from a decor standpoint (we had a mirrored ceiling, too, and it didn't bother us a bit!), but it was clean, and very important to us, the bed was comfortable. We also loved having plenty of lighting with adequate wattage in the room so that we could read (all of the fancier, newer hotels in which we've stayed recently use low-wattage CFLs that are useless for reading, needlework, etc.)! Our room did not have any objectionable smells that some other reviewers have mentioned.

We appreciated having a fridge (there was a microwave, too, but we didn't use it); there was even a table and chair and a recliner tucked into our room. We like that, because then we had someplace else to lounge other than on the bed, and we could eat take-out meals (there is no restaurant attached, but there are several fast food and other restaurants nearby) comfortably.

The type of in-room heating unit there is a bit difficult to control, and initially the TV remote did not work. But when we brought the issue of the remote to the owner's attention, it was promptly replaced.

Our annual trip is at a time of high local demand (I would expect that would be true in the summer months as well), but we feel the price is reasonable ($65 - 85, over the past several years), and no matter how early or late we arrive, our room is reliably ready.

Room Tip: If you are sensitive to noise, smells, etc., ask for Margaret when you make your reservation, and le...

I made a last minute reservation at Green Acres due to a family funeral that I needed to attend. I chose this hotel since the rooms had direct outside access and would allow a dog (with additional fee). The fee for the room was approximately $80, which is highway robbery for the accomodations provided. We made it to the hotel at about 10:00pm and after ringing the doorbell I was greeted by a woman in a bath robe. I presume the owner. She had taken our resevration and stated that since we had a dog she had prepared the room by covering the chairs and putting on an old comforter. When entering the room I was shocked to see a space that clearly had not been updated probably since the hotel was built. Terrible. Bed was covered with a comforter that was ripped. Chairs had sheets thrown over them (wondering what the pet fee is for if everything in the room is going to be covered). Bathroom was tiny and the grout in the shower was nearly black. Carpeting was a 1970's shag, again I presume original to the hotel. The young cleaning lady was the one redeeming factor. Nice personality and did a fine job. The room did not appear dirty but the age of everything in the room could not help but make you feel that it was. Again, $80 for this room is terrible. If you are headed further north, do yourself a favor and drive the additional 30 miles north and stay at Swanson's Cabins in Solon Springs for the same price and extremely better accomodations.

Room Tip: Drive the additional 30 miles north and stay at Swanson's Cabins in Solon Springs for the same p...

Our room smelled like stale smoke, and the decor and furniture (including the mattress) were old and not particularly clean feeling. The walls were also very thin, and we head an extremely loud screeching noise late at night and early in the morning when someone in a neighboring room used the shower. For $10 more, you can stay across the street at a beautiful new motel...which would have definitely been worth it to us.
However, the owners of the motel are very friendly and nice.

Our room was clean, had a TV. Thats what we were looking for. Went to Spooner to fish so we didn't need the pool/hot tub. People were friendly, price was right. Lots of room for our boat. If we go north again next summer we will stay again

We just loved the room we had with the mirrors over the bed. So many people have lost the sense of play in there love life and this is just the ticket.

The shower was nice for two people too.

Those who want a Hilton Hotel experience should stay in Minneapolis
