Country Inn & Suites by Radisson, Sparta, WI
Ranked #3 of 4 Hotels in Sparta
Reviewed October 9, 2012

From the initial check-in to the check-out and everything in between, from the front desk staff to housekeeping, everyone is friendly and helpful. Have stayed at the hotel numerous times in the past and have always had a great experience. Rooms are clean and quiet, and the pool and whirlpool is fun for my daughter. Morning Breakfast is always good and has a good variety of items. Would certainly recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Sparta.

This was not built as a country inn and is a little dated but clean and very nice. It is right off the freeway but you can't hear road noise in the rooms at all. The rooms are smaller then most country inns but in very good condition. There was a microwave, fridge and 37" flat screen tv with great channel selection. Really odd for a country inn was the bar down stairs. It is a nice little place for a night cap though and they had great free popcorn. The full hot breakfast was great as always in country inns and we enjoyed it very much. I would stay here again for sure.
The only negative was the drain in the sink and shower were very slow and the water pretty hard. But that's life on the road!

This place is home away from home. From the maid to the front desk people. Every friendly, clean, breakfast is okay, they give you a fitness card to workout. How cool is that

The staff at this hotel is awesome; everyone is friendly and very helpful. The lobby is nice, and the rooms are clean but small. We had a room with two queen beds, and it was difficult to get around our two large suitcases. I slept closest to the heating & cooling unit and had to deal with cold air blowing on me all night; it was too hot to turn off the fan, and I did not sleep well.

This is a two story hotel. There are no elevators, and the hallways upstairs are not air-conditioned. The day of our stay temperatures were in the upper 80s; the hallways were hot. If you plan to stay here during the summer months, or if it's difficult for you to carry your luggage up stairs, be sure to ask for a room on the first floor when you make your reservation.

The breakfast area was very unorganized. The plates were in the middle, and the utensils were on a different counter. The biscuts were not next to the gravy; they were six feet away on an entirely different counter. It was very chaotic. If you'd rather not deal with the chaos, eat breakfast at the restaurant next door. It has great food at reasonable prices.

Overall this hotel was okay. We paid $110 total for our room, which I felt was a bit overpriced. We travel quite a bit, considering the size of the rooms, I believe a total price of $87 to $97 would have been more appropriate.

After driving all day through South Dakota and Minnesota, we reached Sparta, WI. in need of a place to stay. We found Country Inn through TA and our iPAD and would recommend this Inn to anyone driving Interstate 90 EAST/West. The Front Desk was especially helpful in recommending a casual dinner restaurant close by which wasn't fast food. The rooms were clean and quiet even though located right off the Interstate, and the beds, comfortable. The breakfast was free and better than most continental bkfs. The pool, hot tub and small bar all looked nice even though we didn't take advantage of them. Everyone we met there was very friendly and helpful. We also enjoyed the free newspaper and homemade chocolate chips cookies located at the front desk. There was also a convenience store and gas station adjacent to the Inn. The Easy-off/ Easy-on access to I-90 was a huge advantage for us with the addition of very nice accommodations. We recommend the Country Inn Sparta without hesitation and would stay there again. We stayed in August 2011.

We stayed in Sparta at the Country Inn for our child’s hockey tourney. I travel for business on a regular basis and I travel with my family a lot. I would have to say the staff at this hotel was top 10 the friendliest I have ever been around. There were 4 total youth hockey teams staying at this hotel so quite honestly if you weren’t here for hockey you might have been miserable. Often times when we travel with our hockey team hotels are very anxious to take in a group of 15 families yet they want the kids to be unheard or seen. That is not realistic. Of course they have to behave but you get all those kids together and it will be noisy. The staff never yelled at the kids (which I have seen) but would politely talk to the parents if issues arose.

The facilities were ok. The pool was kind of small but was enough for us. The breakfast was just so so. The beds were very comfortable but the rooms somewhat small. It was very warm in the hotel in all rooms, this is early Jan and I was opening windows all the time it seemed. I guess that is better than a freezing hotel. The bar was nice with great drink prices.

Sparta doesn’t have a ton to offer, if i was going back i would certainly stay here again. The hotel is very clean and comfortable. There aren’t any over the top frills for you. The staff is the best around so they make up for any short comings the property has.
