“Don't forget to check out the Cedar Cabin if you travel with your dog!”
Reviewed July 9, 2012

I didn't see other reviews of the Cedar Cabin ( a separate unit from the B&B) but we chose it because we like to travel with our dog whenever possible. What we loved most about the fully equipped, two-bedroom cabin was the complete peace, quiet, and privacy it affords. It's close enough to the Inn that if you need something they can run it down for you, but it really is it's own little place, with a patio, barbeque, and screened in room for dining. We are travelers who actually DON'T like eating in restaurants all the time so we always look for vacation rentals, cabins or cottages so we can cook. The Cedar Cabin had everything we needed to prepare our meals (though it took until Sunday to locate the bowls in the drawers near the couch!). There is also a lovely pond behind the cabin where you can sit and listen to the frogs or hike up the hill for exercise. The main bedroom was very comfortable and with all that quiet we slept great. The only suggestion I would make since there isn't a TV is bring your own DVD's if you want to watch something, though they do have a small selection onboard. We never bothered; we were happy to read, rest, and birdwatch! We'll definitely be back!

The Inn at Lonesome Hollow is absolutely stunning. The rooms are first rate with plenty of space and fine Amish made furniture. The amenities match up to the room decor. The breakfast is also first rate as are the very friendly and helpful hosts. But what really matters is the setting. You are in a valley with nothing else in Western Wisconsin. The B&B is on a hill from which you can start a hike or just sit and take it all in. Add a glass of wine or other libation and you are set.

Plus if you want to get arround, there are scenic roads galore along with Kickapoo river to canoe.

Room Tip: Consider one of the rooms with a whirlpool.

It is such an amazing place, full of natural beauty and peace. We went for our anniversary. Rooms are excellent and well decorated. Hosts are lovely people who take care of you like family. There are so many great places to see nearby including vantage points from where you can see Mississippi and Wisconsin river merge. Driving in this area itself is a pleasure for eyes. We will definitely go back again...Kunal & Parul

My husband and I have visited this property about 5 times and we keep coming back. We are foodies and enjoy side trips to Viroqua with restaurants serving locally produced food and an excellent food coop. The LaFarge Dam project is featured at a near-by visitor's center... and there is ample paddling, biking and hiking for the most energetic visitors. Then we come back to a serene Inn with knowledgeable and kind hosts and stay in an immaculate room and get an excellent breakfast. The rooms in the Inn itself share a full kitchen, a sitting room (with TV which we never watch) and a small library of local books. There is wi-fi for those who can't leave work behind. Pete and Nora follow "green" practices which we appreciate. There is genuine respect for the beautiful environment. For those coming with more people we can recommend the other options... a 2-bedroom cottage and a luxurious duplex, each unit with 2 bedrooms all with full kitchens and living/dining areas. We like the Inn when we come as a couple so we can enjoy the great breakfasts and conversations with Pete and Nora.

Room Tip: You would have the equivalent of a suite in the duplex or cottage. All the rooms in the Inn are ver...

We had the most lovely time at the Inn! The Prairie Rose room was gorgeous and we especially loved the in-room whirlpool. The food was fantastic and Pete was a wonderful person to converse with. We hiked around the property and it is just beautiful! We will definitely return!

Room Tip: The Prairie Rose Room has an in-room whirlpool and is gorgeous. The pictures don't even do it j...

We stayed in the main house and the accomodations were fabulous. Everything was exceptionally clean and neat; Pete and Nora were, as stated previously, friendly without being intrusive; and attention was paid to the details to create a pampered feeling. Nora's breakfasts were delicious and complete with interesting conversation. We really like the fact that they try to be very "green". We plan on returning several more times to enjoy each of the seasons in that "lonesome hollow".
