“Fun Tourist Stop - Solid Breakfast - Super Fast Service, Once Seated”
Reviewed August 13, 2012

We visited on Saturday, August 11, 2012 about 9:00 am. Yes, there are goats on the grass roof! You go inside and give your name to the hostess. She tells you your wait time (ours was about 15 minutes). You can either have a seat outside and watch the goats or go inside and have a seat or visit the gift shop. You name is announced over a PA system.

Once seated in this cozy, no frills, utilitarian dining room, the service is lightning fast! Vary large menu. We stayed with the basics: two eggs, sausage, American fries and toast. Served quickly, friendly and piping hot! Good flavors, seasoned properly and a generous portion. My wife also ordered hot tea, I had ice water.

Price: each breakfast order $8.00, tea $2.00.

“Not a tourist trap after all”
Reviewed August 11, 2012 via mobile

We avoided this place for several visis to DC thinking it looked like a real tourist trap. We finally gave it a try this week and were pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food. We tried several of the Swedish dishes and the were terrific. Our waitrss was wonderful and even gave me a little sample of the pickled herring when no one in the group wanted to share awhile appetizer with me.

“Always a must in door county.”
Reviewed August 9, 2012

We tried dinner here this time instead of breakfast. My Danish husband enjoyed the herring plate which you probably wouldn't find elsewhere. The food was good, though not outstanding. The only negative is that we ate a later dinner, and the staff seemed burnt out and anxious for customers to finish. Our waitress was ok, but not very friendly.

“OK, so there are goats on the roof”
Reviewed August 8, 2012

"Al" Johnson's is not fine dining. Rooftop goats aside, it's not much more than a step up from eating at Stuckey's. Johnson's serves tourists, so they operate on the "get 'em in and get 'em out" principle. Do not expect much more than average food and service. Visit once, just to say you did.
