Prop's On Long Lake - one of our favorite stops when heading to the South Shore and when we are in the Northwoods. Beautiful views of Long Lake from the bar and from their comfortable outside dining. Service is always friendly and efficient - Butch and Trish are always a treat to talk to. Today I had the 50hp Burger with Blue cheese and chips, she had the Clam strips and sweet potato fries and we always have to share an order of the fried pickles. Big Eddy's was served up cold and the J & C's are always tasty. I thought the "Prop's Branding" on the top side of my burger bun was a great touch. Thanks to everyone at Prop's for always making our visit fun and delicious - stop in the next time you are passing by on Hwy 51, I think you'll be glad you did.

Fries were cold and chicken strips were over cooked in old grease (they were very dark and chewy). Service was good but food terrible. Will not go back.

We have been coming to Long Lake for about 10 years. There is no question. This is the place we come for our and last suppers of our week long fishing trip! We were there last week. Three of us had pizza and thought it was great! Never had a bad meal there yet. They were busy being a Saturday night so service was a little slow, but not horrible. We always look forward to
Props!

While enjoying a day on a pontoon on Long Lake, we stopped in here for lunch on a Sunday as it was the closest. It wasn't long before we were sorry we didn't take the time to go elsewhere. There were only 3 other tables of customers in the place, but the service was AGONIZINGLY slow (a different table was actually getting their own food from the kitchen window and grabbing their own condiments out of the fridge next to the window). I asked the waitress for a drink list and was told there wasn't one, and she looked at me like I was from Jupiter when I asked for something similar to a Mai Tai. :/ Of the 7 people in my group, none of us enjoyed our meals. My brother and his wife said no tomatoes on their appetizer and entrée; they let it slide when the appetizer came out with tomatoes on it (but did mention it to the waitress), but when the entrée arrived with tomatoes they sent it back. The waitress said she could not have the cook re-make their entrée, so she'd bill them for a 2nd entrée and pay for our next round of drinks to make it even. Then when their 2nd entrée came out, she dumped the cold fries (that had been sitting on the first plate that she took away) onto the plate and walked off!!! My niece had the chicken tenders from the children's menu and they were very dark and overcooked. My niece tried to eat them anyway, but they were too burnt and when the waitress took the plate away she asked if they were uneaten because they were burnt. In the end, we were given a bill that was not itemized, but paid it and left just because we'd already been there far too long on a gorgeous day. As it is one of the nicer looking restaurants on Long Lake, it is a shame that the food and service is so bad.

Reading other negative reviews, we must have just hit it right with all four times we've visited - usually for lunch when it's not crowded. We think this place with it's low-key dining and ambiance is worth the drive if you're in the area. Pull your boat up to the dock off Long Lake and hike up a few steps to the timbered deck with plenty of seating. Or arrive by car and walk into a really open, rustic lodge-looking restaurant with huge windows overlooking the lake. We try to order other things but keep coming back to the best hamburger in this region - not to mention those waffle fries that just surpass anything we've had in that menu-range. You can choose the fixin's - a nice variety of excellent Wisconsin cheeses to top it with. You can have it made-to-order and it comes on a lovely toasted bun that's not too chewy or tough to bite. Service isn't lightening fast, but we have managed to do just fine. Good kid menu as well. It's just fun to look out at the huge lake and enjoy the breezes on the deck. Warning: if you bring kids and they order sodas, the sodas come in a can - no refills.
