We stayed at Hiller's Pine Haven with some of our extended family. It is a collection of cottages with a small circle drive between. All of the cottages seemed nice. I would probably avoid #10 as it is very close to the driveway and lacks a great view. The others all have a deck overlooking the beautiful lake with cottages 11, 1, 2 and 3 having the best view of the lake. The cottage was pretty well stocked with kitchen goods and linens. The stoves are small and oldish which can make cooking a challenge. If I came back, I would bring a few of my own pans because most were pretty flimsy and did not hold heat well.
The common areas are pretty tiny. The "playground" and sports areas are pretty minimal and need some updating. The beach is small but sufficient and we had fun using the free kayaks and paddle boat. The owner was really nice and very tolerant of our big, loud family which is a huge bonus. So many places are owned by crabby old guys who can make your vacation miserable!
As for location, the lake is really beautiful and we caught a ton of fish which was really fun for the kids. The lake is much bigger than it looks and I would definitely recommend renting the optional boat motor if you come. There is not much to do in St. Germain besides fish and lake/water activities but it is pretty and other towns with little downtown areas are 15-20 minutes away. There are very few stores or restaurants in St. Germain itself. Overall, the kids had a blast and I am pretty sure we will stay here again.
