“A walk in the park...with bonuses”
Reviewed August 16, 2013

Most of the zoos that I have visited are too big. By the time you have walked the grounds, you need a vacation. The Racine zoo is just the right size. You may not see all of the animal kingdom but enough of it to be satisfied...without having to take a nap in the middle. Feeding the giraffes is a highlight for parents and kids. And the meerkats are mesmerizing. When you are tired of the zoo, you can walk the block and a half down to Lake Michigan for a picnic.

“OK, for a small zoo”
Reviewed August 16, 2013

I grew up in Racine 1 block away from this Zoo. For the admission fee charged, it is a nice little zoo, however, I think the zoos in Milwaukee and Madison are better.

“Chill out w/ your kids and the animals”
Reviewed July 31, 2013

The more times I go with the kids, the more I enjoy. This is for a lazy afternoon where the kids can run around in and outside to see the animals. No pressure, no schedule, just pack snacks or a lunch. There are two playground areas. Sure you can buzz in and out but it's better to stop and observe the animals. Not so big that you'd get tired of walking. Great variety of animals in big cages that allow you to see giraffes, rhinos, lions, tigers, orangutangs, mountain goats, kangaroos, etc. Small petting area also.

“Nice small zoo”
Reviewed July 29, 2013

Zoo with lovely well kept park grounds on the shore of Lake Michigan. A nice variety of animals and small enough to comfortably walk through with small children. Also a nice play to picnic. Has a small train that can accommodate children and adults. A really neat aviary full of budgies that can be hand fed. A lot of fun for children.

“Very few animals”
Reviewed July 29, 2013

Last time we took our grandson, there were few animals. And the ones there looked as if they could have been the same one there when I was a kid.
