“Another great Americinn”
Reviewed August 20, 2013

Americinn has become my go-to lodging choice. I can make a reservation without doing a bunch of research and know the place will be nice. I do think Americinn rates have crept up over the last couple of years, but KNOWING you'll be in a good place when you stop for the night has been worth it so far. The Americinn in PDC really went above and beyond. So many nice little touches and everyone was super friendly. Good location. Great breakfast. Highly recommended.

Booked this room with Lynn at the front desk-she is so nice & helpful-explained in detail the rooms, places to eat & sights to see. Manager, Chris is so thoughtful, I explained we were staying for my husbands birthday weekend getaway & she added whirlpool/rose petals & chocolates to the room to make it even more memorable!
The breakfast in the front lobby was very good. Fresh made omelettes, bacon, biscuits/gravy-the works-besides that they had cold milk/different coffees/cappucinos, cereal/bagels, anything you needed-they had! Our room was very clean & loved the little rubber duckie in the whirlpool-nice touch! We ended up meeting nice people in the pool & played water volleyball-it was a blast. Will definitely stay at these hotels again.

Room Tip: Any room would be nice as there really isnt a view-i recommend the lemon water in the lobby and warm...

This was the best experience we have had at any AmericInn. The bed and pillows were so comfy and the hotel was very clean! The front desk had fresh cookies in the evening that were delicious! The option for made to order omelets or eggs to your liking was a great way to start the day! Definitely would stay here again and highly recommend to everyone!

We were on the way home from an out of state visit...and decided to take the scenic Great River Road route. We had not intended to come this far...but ended up in Prairie du Chien at 6:30 p.m. on a Friday night with no reservations. After checking a number of places for availability...we stopped at this property...and were fortunate enough to get the last room. It was pricey for a place to sleep ($169=taxes),... but it really was a pleasant experience. Apparently... the room we got was one of their best..as it offered a king bed with a sleep number bed. The room was very comfortable...squeaky clean...with a great HDTV, small frig and microwave. The desk clerk
, Molly, couldn't have been more friendly or welcoming. She quickly let me know that they offered free popcorn and chocolate chip cookies...and had been recognized for offering the best breakfast within the Americinn system. BTY.. the lobby is very pleasant and well decorated. While we did not have a view of the river...we enjoyed sitting outside and visiting with another guest. When I asked "Molly" where a good restaurant was... she referred us to the pub/restaurant next door, Ft Mulligan's Grillpub, and also in the spirit of full disclosure...told me that she also worked there...but they did have a great food and drink. We took her advice..and enjoyed an excellent Wisconsin fish fry... all you can eat BTW..($11.95). Ft. Mulligan's is definitely a happening place.. lots of people.. high energy. We went for breakfast fairly early..as we wanted to get back on the road.... and Molly was there again... this time fixing omelets to order... along with other great breakfast items.. including Wisconsin sausage, (might have been kilbasa) fresh fruit & juices, waffles (with fresh strawberries and whipped cream) and a host of other breakfast items. It WAS by far, the best breakfast we have had at a limited lodging facility. As I said... paying nearly $200 including taxes for an place to sleep was rather expensive... but this a resort destination, on a Friday night, in high-season. Having said this...we couldn't have asked for a more pleasant experience...and the drive up HWY 35 to LaCrosse, WI was a great finish to a long road trip.

Everything about this hotel is top notch! Sitting just a stone's throw away from the Mississippi, this hotel has everything you'd ever need. The staff was extremely accommodating, the expansive breakfast offering (including the Omelet Lady who cooks up any type of omelet you want), the very nicely decorated lobby, the clean pool and hot tub area, and the very clean rooms exceeded our expectations. Since we had a total of 13 folks in our group, the kind staff let us gather each evening in the hotel’s meeting room, since it wasn't being used. The staff also keeps popcorn popping in the machine, fresh-baked cookies and/or Rice Krispie Treats on the counter. Even the quality of the roll-a-way bed was better than expected. I can't reiterate how everyone was so nice and helpful. In addition to the wonderful lodging, there’s a great restaurant at north end of the parking lot called Mulligan’s Pub. It’s family friendly with a full menu of great food. We will return to Prairie du Chien and when we do, there’s only place we’ll consider staying: the AmericInn! I promise you… you won't be disappointed.

This was the single most guest-friendly hotel we have ever visited for the money, bar none. They thought of everything a guest could want---with the exception of an elevator, which is a huge exception. If your luggage is abundant and/or heavy, either request a first floor room or else keep driving. But we went ahead and took a second floor king room and my husband was a good sport & carried my 2 suitcases plus my computer bag up the stairs.

In our room, we found a spacious room with a refrigerator with a WORKING freezer, a microwave oven and at least three lamps that had two electrical outlets apiece on them for phone & iPad charging, etc. How often does THAT happen?!?!? There were also two outlets by the sink. Eight accessible outlets, by anyone's count, is an unbelievably generous number and SO appreciated!

Upon check in, there was hot popcorn made up along with warm, freshly made chocolate chip cookies right there ready and waiting for the guests to help themselves.

The shower head was one of those huge ones, probably 6 inches in diameter, that was covered with holes, not just holes around the fringe, and the shower head was low enough that the average person got coverage. Also, there was one of those "glow" night lights as a built-in part of the bathroom sink outlet. This is a brilliant idea idea to light your way to the bathroom during the night.

As I said, the ONLY drawback was the lack of an elevator. This I don't I understand in times of the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Room Tip: Absolutely request a first floor room!!! There are no elevators!!!

We really like this hotel: the breakfast, the puzzle/chess in the lobby, the 24 hour cappuccino, the location to downtown and the river, the laundry, the friendly staff, the Christian books and art, the pool table in the pool room. Everything is really comfortable and clean and quality. We will be back.
