Definitely check out the Museum if you are visiting the brewery. The tour is $5, but you also get a a free beer or soda, so you can easily get your moneys worth.

The museum contains a lot of beer memorabilia from all sorts of breweries especially those in Wisconsin and Iowa.

We visited Potosi for the Brewfest. It was a really nice setting with the trees and the small stream running through the event grounds. The band was good, but rather hard to hear since they are separated from the booths. The day was hot so more shade would have been nice, but the grounds are well kept. There were lots of local breweries and several cheese distributors. I couldn't believe all of the different goat cheese samples. This event was well organized. We will be back next year!

What a great museum! Run by the American Breweriana Association (read glorified beer can collectors) the modern museum in the old Potosi Brewery building is great fun. The collections are on loan from ABA members and rotated on an irregular basis. In addition to beer cans there are bottles, caps, openers, marketing materials, signs, brewery equipment and much more. Bittersweet displays tell the story of now defunct breweries. I was pleased to see items from four Davenport breweries on display and to see that Dubuque and Galena once had at least 4 breweries each. It was a wonderful experience for a guy that was born too late to see horse drawn brewery wagons and cone topped cans and never thought of saving the empties.

I had a great French dip sandwich with cheese and grilled onions at the Potosi Brewery Restaurant and Pub. Their microbrewery's Good Old Potosi and Snake Hollow IPA hit the spot, truly superior brews, better than my excellent local micro-brewery. My brother preferred the Holiday Bock. The beer garden would be fun in warm weather.

The museum and brewpub were worth the 90 mile drive from Davenport. Definitely off the beaten path, the place is handier to Dubuque and Galena.
