My family and I have stayed at this hotel for four years for our annual ski trip to Cascade Mountain. The hotel is super convienient to Cascade, only about 5 minutes away. They also offer discount tickets at the front desk. The only other hotel this close is the Days Inn across the street

The hotel has a very nice pool / whirlpool area, complete with an arcade and workout room. It is great for families to hang out after a busy day on the slopes. Rooms are generally nice, many have whirlpool tubs. We like to book a suite to have more room for the kids.

That being said, the hotel does have some negatives. On ski weekends in January / February, it gets very busy with families and groups. This make the breakfast and pool pretty busy. The whirlpools in the pool weren't working all that well when we were there, they weren't that hot and looked cloudy.

Also, the insulation isn't great, so you will hear people going up and down the halls. With large groups and kids, this can be noisy.

The breakfast is ok. The waffels are great but you have to wait in line for them. Everything else is average, eggs, pastries, cereal, juice, coffee.

As mentioned, the rooms are starting to get pretty dated. The mattresses need replaced, the TV's are still the old tube style (although there are like 100 channels), much of the furniture is dated and beat up.

There was a construction trailer sitting outside, maybe they are going to start some renovations after ski season is over.

Finally, the staff tends to be very helpful, both the front desk and the breakfast staff. I wish they would have two staff working on ski weekends though, as the front desk person can get overwhelmed with request.

Room Tip: If noise bothers you, ask for rooms further away from the interstate (the lower numbered rooms).

I thank you for your comment regarding the hotel. Our furniture in this Comfort Suites including the Sofa Sleepers are less than 6 months old. We have also added new curtains with black out drapes and new paint & lighting in all our rooms.

I generally like Comfort Suites, but this hotel is a disappointment, and definitely not up to the usual Comfort Suites standards. It is located at a busy highway junction, convenient to Portage, the Wisconsin Dells, Devils Lake, and Baraboo. There is a free continental breakfast and free Wifi.

The hotel is in serious need of a remodel. Rooms have old decor, ratty carpet, and the mattress was one of the worst I have ever slept on - thin and saggy. The sofa was almost stained and sagged so much it was unusable. The lobby is tired, and breakfast area is covered the paper "DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT..." signs that are tacky and unfriendly. The pool area is large, but neither whirlpool seemed to work - one was stuck on, the other was stuck off.

Like most hotels, this hotel didn't recognize my Choice Privileges elite status, which is always a disappointment.

This hotel is really a poor reflection on the Comfort Suites brand. Skip it!

I am sorry that you feel that our hotel has "ratty carpet" & needs updating. Our carpet and furniture in all 83 of our rooms is less than 6 months old and has been well taken care of since installation of said furniture & carpet. Our lobby furniture is new as well. Our next update is for new wallpaper in the halls and our lobby area. This will take place the end of March.

We stayed here while skiing at Cascade. The hotel was just fine and very convenient. The biggest surprise - great customer service. We accidentally left my son's baby blanket and a small stuffed animal in the room. As parents know, the toys you bring to hotels are always the favorites. Lucky for us, when we called and talked to Teressa, she was so helpful. She looked through lost items and found our stuffed animal. Maybe the best day in our son's life. We are so thankful for the great customer service we received! Thank you Teressa!

We stayed here for one night. It's got a great location - RIGHT off of 94. Our rooms were spacious and the beds VERY comfortable. The breakfast in the morning was also very good - eggs, sausage, waffles, fruit, pastries, oatmeal, juices. The price thru hotels.com was also great, so all-in-all this one was an A+!

Right off the highway, convenient to Cascade and Devils Head Ski areas. Looks like it has been updated fairly recently, very clean. Friendly staff. Nice pool area. The cons: We had a 2-room suite (living room with pullout and king bedroom) which was nice because 2 of us go to bed earlier than the other 2. Very roomy. However, the pullout bed was horrible. Lumpy and could not sleep with bar sticking in our backs. In a 2 room suite built to occupy 4, it is likely someone will use the pullout so a decent one is called for. We have stayed at other places where the pullout has a decent foam mattress. It's not a bed, of course, but better than the awful paper thin "mattress" that was on this one. The breakfast offerings were OK -- powdered eggs, gravy, biscuits were terrible but there were waffles, cereal, etc. that were fine. Breakfast could have been a bit better for the room price. Pool larger than most hotel chain pools and nice, though hot tub was lukewarm. All in all, a fine place to stay for a night or 2 while traveling in Wisconsin.

Room Tip: Get a room away from the lobby/pool area.

Nice hotel with a suite set-up, I have stayed here multiple times and it has always been the same....Great price on the Choicehotel website...even better with AAA or government ID. Its located just off the freeway...only downside is eating places.

Room Tip: rooms facing away from the pool usually quieter
