“Fun, interesting tour......”
Reviewed June 2, 2012

We recently went and did the tour on a groupon with another couple. It was interesting to see the process and after the tour, they explained some things in greater detail while some of the people were sampling. The vodka is really good and we liked the lemon and orange new products that pair up nicely with Sprite. They also have some 45th Parallel attire for purchase. We enjoyed it, thanks!

“Fun, Short Trip to a Distillery”
Reviewed April 7, 2012

We went to the 45th Parallel Spirits Distillery with a groupon deal, and I have to say that the experience was a lot of fun. I prefer drinking wine over vodka or spirits, in general. Therefore, of course, I prefer a wine tasting over a vodka tasting. With that being said, I enjoyed the explanation of the process of distilling vodka, as well as the explanation of how distilling vodka differs from manufacturing whiskey, brandy, or other alcoholic beverages. On the tour, we even learned that microbrews/beer in Canada is sometimes soaked in old barrels used for the creation of spirits, in order to give the microbrews a distinct whiskey, or other, flavor.

It was an informative tour, and the setting was laid-back and fun. However, it is a smaller building, and it is basically a short (hour-long) tour and tasting. If you are already planning to drive to nearby sites and sights, then this may be an excellent trip for you. For instance, there are also wineries in the area, not too far from this location, and a casino in Turtle Lake.

If you are looking for a romantic destination, I would likely recommend a winery tour instead. However, this was a fun afternoon trip, and if you like or love vodka, then definitely try this tour and tasting. We ended up buying a few products/alcohol bottles!
Finally, gin and a sweeter lemonade-flavored spirit are also available for tasting and for purchase.

“love this place”
Reviewed February 21, 2012

This was our second visit. These guys really do a great job of explaining the vodka distillation process (and make a dang good product.) This was a great day trip along with lunch at Brady's Brewpub. A good place to take visiting friends or relatives.

“A fun tour”
Reviewed December 11, 2011

We took the Groupon tour of 45th Parallel Spirits and had a very nice time. Tom was giving the tour and you could tell he enjoys his work. He was very knowledgeable about the distilling process and answered all questions. The best part of the tour was the sampling. We can not wait until they finish their expansion and start distributing their whiskeys.

“Good vodka”
Reviewed November 27, 2011

We have bought this vodka on several occasions as well as given it as gifts. We are far from being vodka conniseurs but we like it and so have those we have given it to. We also like the fact that it is made in town! They do offer classes on distilling vodka, gin, and vodka. They are very expensive however so it had better be something you really want to do. They now produce Midwest Vodka and Midwest Gin.
