This charming spot offers attentive service and an interesting, seasonal menu. We found the food to be slightly bland and the plate was not eye-catching (white fish, white potatoes, white turnips - even the asparagus was white) but the friendly and professional server and the coziness of the restaurant added up to an enjoyable evening.

This is a cute little restaurant (and tiny bar) with a small menu that seems to change daily. I wasn't blown away by the entrees (except for a fabulous asparagus soup) on a recent visit, but I was amazed at the quality offered at very reasonable prices. At those prices, I would definitely return to try some other menu offerings. The service was very good. A nice wine list was available, though wines by the glass were somewhat limited (but again, very reasonably priced). The bread basket and its accompaniments were very enjoyable. The restaurant was empty when we arrived for early dinner (6pm on a Fri) but by the time we left around 8:15 pm business was good. It is a nice place for a quiet/intimate dinner. I hope this little gem can hold in in these tough times.

We had a 5:30 reservation. Arrived at 5:15. Was seated and that is where the service ended. Another hostess had to come get our drinks after about 10 minutes of waiting, the waitress spoke to us once, but chatted with another customer for long periods of time leaving us with only our drinks and bread. The menu was small so lets face it, we didn't need 30 minutes to make a selection. By the time our drinks were drank, we still didn't have service. We were the first customers in the estabilshment and would have been the last to be waited on. The waitress was more concerned about chatting with another couple about her vacations rather than serving us. This was our second attempt at eating here as last February we stopped in and asked about dining. We didn't have reservations, but rather than be nice about it they were rude. I would never recommend this place. In fact when we finally told the waitress that we wanted the bill for our drinks, she wanted to know why, then took forever to get us a bill. Needless to say, we had to go to the bar to pay for our drinks as once again she never came back.. One finaly comment, when eating, I don't need to feel like I have to talk above the music. it was loud. Sad because we live in this city.

Lagniappe is more like the small European restaurants. The menu is changed daily depending on what fresh meats, fish and produce are available. They have a great wine lists and Jennifer, our favorite, has always given us great suggestions. The chef is receptive to advanced requests for vegetarian, gluten free entrees. Each dinner is begun with a lagniappe which translates as 'a little something extra'. There are usually several red meat entrees, but I'm most familiar with their fish which is very enjoyable. They are also open for lunch. It's reasonably priced and has a lovely intimate atmosphere.

I love how the menu is constantly changing. It lets you experience the kind of food you see on tv, but would/could never successfully concoct at home. Expertly crafted dishes and the cozy atmosphere make this a truly unique dining experience. It's definitely refreshing and exciting to the palate.

I wouldn't recommend this establishment for families with small children or if you're looking for a "franchise" experience. This is a great place for an intimate dinner for small parties.
