This is what you get when very smart people run a restaurant! You can find the menu on line, and it changes but keeps rotating patron favorites, so it's easy to see what's on offer and the costs. If you click on the menu items, you can see a picture of what awaits - and be forewarned: these are generous portions, not small plates designed to look full of food. Arrive hungry!

We ordered Lobster Bisque as our starter, and it was a full bowl with a lobster tail -cooked to perfection! A small salad of greens was then served to prepare for the next course, which we choose to be the lamb special. It came with four spears of asparagus anchored to a mound of mashed potatoes, cascading from a fan of melt-in-your-mouth tender lamb. This was all sitting atop a plate darkened with sauce that was flavorful without being overly salty. Though we were full, we couldn't resit ordering dessert, which I had the sticky toffee pudding, and my husband had the lemon pound cake. Every last bite was mind-blowing pleasure.

We have been avoiding this place because of a years-earlier mediocre experience. Either we had a one-off bad night, or these folks have really worked to perfection. We now intend to become regulars.

My Tip: Go early, we were the only ones for quite a while, but when other diners came, it did get a bit loud, and the acoustics allowed me to hear quite clearly people's conversations. Also, it was a lot of food. Wear something lose because it's too good and you won't be able to stop yourself to have them box it up for you. Also, ask for more bread to sop up the sauces; it's classier than licking the plate. Finally: Just go! You will kick yourself that you haven't been sooner.

“as good as always”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 9, 2014

had a delicious dinner again - well worth the drive in very cold January weather. Probably my 4th or 5th visit in last 5 years. Chef Wave K. also a fave at cooking classes in Madison. Full dinner for three with wine, appetizers, entrees and the sticky toffee dessert - we share tastes and bites at the table and all agreed on top quality taste and presentation. Friendly hostess and wait staff make you feel welcome. Keep up the good work!

“I would give it 6 stars if I could!”

This place is amazing. Possibly the best food we have eaten at a restaurant. The mushroom strudel was outstanding, and the salmon was perfectly cooked. Also, it was unbelievable they were able to cook all the seafood in a pot pie, including scallops, to perfection, even though it was a pie. The wine list is extensive, and the service impeccable. A beautiful dining experience without being snooty. I can't wait to plan another trip to Southern Wisconsin so I can eat here again!

“Waited 5 years for this!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 14, 2013

We discovered this restaurant 5 years ago and actually "planned" a weekend trip around visiting it again. This is one of the best restaurants we've eaten in and compares with "big city" cuisine. Service is attentive, yet laid back. The food is outstanding. They are only open 4 days a week (Wed - Sat) and with about 20 tables, make a reservation. We were delighted that the second dining experience was just as wonderful 5 years later!

“Awesome food and evening”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 30, 2013

awesome short drive form Middleton, food served was absolutely delicious.
Chef Wave, is an awesome chef and it is a treat to dine at his place.... service is laid back with a long time staff that has been with him for years. While the prices are more than you will find in most small town dining, it is not out of bounds by any means.
