Comet is comfort food for both the omnivore and the herbivore. The vegetarian sausage is probably the best sausage I've eaten in my life, and none of the vegetarian options disappoint. All the food is extremely well-prepared, delicious and filling. The desserts are to die for. The only drawback is the wait time, be prepared to wait 45 minutes or more on the weekend and sometimes during the week. It is worth the wait, though.

Just what you expect from comfort food in Milwaukee: spicey fries and burgers, craft beers or malts and there's bacon, bacon, bacon. Bacon pancakes. A BELT, (Bacon, egg, lettuce and tomato). Yum, yum all around. Founded in 1947. We're glad we found it in 2014.

I flew into Milwaukee for a girls weekend and our first stop was the Comet Cafe. We were not disappointed! The portions were huge (none of us could finish our meal) and the food was delicious! We wanted to sample some of the desserts that were on display but none of us had room! I had the bacon wrapped meatloaf and my friends had the Compact Turkey Dinner and the Macaroni and Cheese. Definitely would recommend any of the dishes!

This place has soul, in an old building that retains lots of its original character. It's a hopping place that offers excellent breakfast options. There seemed to be a bloody Mary special the morning we were there, so the bar is open at breakfast too. The big square fluffy bisquits were excellent. I could only eat half the daily breakfast special that incorporated scrambled eggs, hashbrowns, sliced bratwurst and a light flavorful beer and cheese sauce. Delicious, if not healthy!! So, no room for the great looking pie this time, but we will go back when in the neighborhood next.

Great homely food (loved the bacon-wrapped meatloaf/mash/gravy and my partner had some kind of amazing giant mac and cheese thing) and loved the buttery Rusty Nail Pale Ale. Nice atmosphere too. Other reviewers talk about the 'hip' vibe but the hipster quotient isn't through the roof; there was a good mix of people on the night we went. Fun, dark, down to earth bar with good food and good beer.
