My wife and I had dinner here two nights ago on a short trip to Wisconsin. Being a Sunday night, the restaurant was busy but not crowded and had a relaxed air about it. The décor at first seemed very bright, but once settled in, we noticed that the décor was modern, yet comfortably traditional at the same time and just had a good feel about it. It is located right next to the beautiful classic Hotel Pfister in downtown Milwaukee.
On Sunday night, the restaurant features a $20.00 three course dinner with $15.00 bottles of wine, an incredible value. The regular menu is also available but we took advantage of this remarkable bargain. Our wine was a cabernet, Guerdoc, which was fine for the cheap price tag. We both had chopped salads - very freshly made with a tangy dressing. I had an 8 oz. cut of prime rib, thin but flavorful served with Yorkshire pudding. My wife's chicken was beautifully prepared. For extra sides we chose a roasted cauliflower and broiled mushrooms - both were excellent. Carrot cake and chocolate cake were the desserts. Again, exceptional value. We would like to return here and enjoy dinner from the regular menu. The kitchen is open-air and there is also a counter for added convenience and for solo diners.
