$95/person. 10 appitizer size courses. Eclectic and interesting at times. Hits and misses. We are very adventuous eaters and unfortunately were not wowed. Decor is similar to your parent's basement as you were growing up with all the old mismatched things to sit on and up on walls. Goodwill chic? At a $260 dinner for two I would like/expect better and more comfortable surroundings. Wish I wasn't so dissappointed as I was expecting great things.

After offering several options for a birthday celebration and not getting a excited response we decided to head to Milwaukee for a nice dinner; but WHERE? There is no shortage of good restaurants. Ardent came up in discussion but there are many other options. Going online looking for the best restaurants in Milwaukee, Ardent shows up again. OK, must be divine intervention, so Ardent it is.

Ardent offers a tasting menu style dinner. The chefs select and offer 10-12 tasting size courses for the evening. Your only task is to advise them of allergies, decide if you want beverage pairing with each course and enjoy. Don’t be deceived by the small size of each course. Except for the largest of appetites, you will have plenty to each, just not all at once. Relax and enjoy the journey.

Each course is a work of art, exciting both your eyes and your taste buds. Everything is made from scratch, everything, local if possible, even the butter and spices, to meet the chefs’ requirements. Each course is complex and meticulously created with layers of flavor and texture. You start out with several light courses, then savory courses, cleansing courses and finally desert, each course leading into the next.

Ardent is not for everyone. If you have food allergies, it could greatly affect your enjoyment. Definitely call ahead and talk to them if you are thinking about going. If you are a fussy eater; don’t like seafood, don’t eat many vegetables, are not what you would call an adventurous eater, you probably will not enjoy yourself. And, there is the cost; it is fair but not inexpensive. BUT, if you are open to new things and want a great experience in dining, go for it. The service is great, you will be pampered. The food is great. It's a must try.

Wonderful dinner and wine pairing. The food was incredible, the service was impeccable. I greatly enjoyed the atmosphere as it was not as stuffy as most restaurants in this price range. Will definitely be going back.

Elegant, gourmet morsels with wine pairing throughout. Expensive, but not too upscale or uppity feeling. Impeccable service. Great for special occasion/anniversary. Easily, the best tasting food in Milwaukee.

There is almost nothing quite like Ardent in Milwaukee. We went for the tasting menu with wine pairings and 11 courses later we had an experience we can tell stories about for some time. Some of the food was fantastic, like the croissants and the chicken, others were good, and some I didn’t like. It the process and the flavors and the variety all made it memorable.

The staff are wonderful, and treat you well. My wife did not want raw fish or raw meat and they accommodated her. We learned about every dish and every wine. We were able to ask questions about the dishes and were given answers happily.

One caveat. It is VERY expensive in Milwaukee terms. So don’t go unless you are prepared not to freak out.
