“Living French history”

St. Joan of Arc Chapel
Ranked #22 of 175 things to do in Milwaukee
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed July 22, 2013

Once you know the history of this little chapel, you feel so lucky to be inside enjoying the peace and beauty of it. Bring 25 cents so you can walk away with a pamphlet (available inside the chapel) so you can read how it is truly against all odds that we have it in America. Or check out the website prior to going so you will see all the details. Believed to have been constructed in France during the the medieval time of Joan of Arc, it was rebuilt and brought to NY and then to Milwaukee. It's open Mon-Fri 10-4 or Sunday 12-4. Noble families used to worship here and now you can too.

It is kinda cool, and it doesn't take long to look at. Finding it on the other hand proved more difficult than first thought. I was surprised it was rated so high after I went there, but I am glad I went all the same. Cool for pictures.

I've always loved this small chapel; I celebrated my first Mass as a priest here. the stones, in their silence, speak of the centuries, of a far-away place and time, while providing a place of tranquility and beauty for those who wish to pray, or just to rest their minds and hearts.

Always the first place i stop at when visiting the Marrquette U. campus. Serenely quiet and calming, cooling. and you can't stop yourself from reflecting on the history encased in the stone walls Take part in a guided tour if offered when you visit. A must stop in Milwaukee

I never miss this when on MU campus. The campus has changed a lot since I went there in the 70s, but this place remains the same and that is comforting. It is a rustic and beautiful place for a few minutes of solitude.
