“Good food, great desserts, unbelievable prices!”
Review of Bombay Sweet

Bombay Sweet
Ranked #710 of 1,527 Restaurants in Milwaukee
Description: www.milwaukeefoods.com/bombaysweets. They were featured in the Shepherd/Express newspaper the week of 5/17, I believe, but have been here for at least 10 years. I've eaten there many times and keep going back. Food is inexpensive and it is the only place in Milwaukee that sells fresh, authentic Indian sweets in quantity.

“Good food, great desserts, unbelievable prices!”
Reviewed June 29, 2013

After seeing the reviews on TA raving about the value, we bargain hunters from New York had to check it out. The menu is above the counter, and we were startled to see that the price of most of the standard entrees was $4.99!! The selection is limited; at that price, you're not going to see dishes based on more expensive ingredients like mushrooms or eggplant. Or meat! You place your order at the counter, go to a card table to pick up some plastic ware and napkins and pour yourself some water, and when your food is ready, they yell at you to come pick it up! That's what passes for service and ambiance. But the samosas, the vegetarian platter, and the other entrée were hot and tasty, and more aggressively seasoned than most of the dumbed-down Indian food we have had lately. At the counter is the dessert case, and it will make your mouth water. We bought a sampling to take back to our hotel and were delighted!

“Nice Indian Fast Food and Snacks”
Reviewed May 27, 2012

It does not match what you get at Devon in Chicago but there is a very nice selection of chaats, samosas, sweets, bhel puri, paani puri and so on. If you enjoy Indian fast food and snacks, definitely worth a visit.

“Good, cheap, authentic, vegetarian Indian/Pakistani food.”
Reviewed June 20, 2011

We eat here all the time (like twice a month for the past several years.)

There are tons of choices, and all the ones we've had were good. The daily special ($7) is nice as it typically includes rice, curry, daal, yogurt, roti, and rice pudding. Did I mention that everything is cheap?

Food is authentically spiced---if you're not into hot food, you should ask at the counter (usually manned by the owner) for milder choices (the plain dosa is nice.) (Alternatively, try Cafe India, http://cafeindiamke.com/, for similarly priced, no-heat, correctly spiced, food--not authentic.)

They also sell (to go or eat in) Indian/Pakistani sweets and snacks.

This is not fine dining (strip mall, Styrofoam plates, plastic spoons) and would, probably, not impress a pretentious date. If you like good, cheap, authentic, vegetarian Indian/Pakistani food, you'll be very happy.

“Bombay Sweet Is Sweet”
Reviewed July 24, 2010

Bombay Sweet is a ma and pa neighborhood Indian as well sweet shop. The food is excellent and very inexpensive. Unfortunately they have been serving on styrofoam plates. Hopefully they will get some real ones.
