“So So place with So So food”
Reviewed June 10, 2014

We had a gathering here for a celebration with family. Their "quirky" service sort of gets old. Didn't find the food very spectacular or a value either. Burger seemed rather skimpy but hubs enjoyed the super sized hot dog. There were no doggie bags because the servings are not very big. We were here on a Sunday and there were stumble down drunks roaming the grounds. They didn't want to bother trying to accommodate us on the inside (we were a party of 16) so we opted to stay outside where it was quite windy. The bloody Mary bar is pretty so-so as well. Sprecher is no longer served except well they do have it on tap-something our server didn't seem to know. I wouldn't go out of my way for this place, way to may other cool places in the area.

“Key MIDwest.”
Reviewed May 28, 2014

We've been to Barnacle Bud's many times and it's always a good time.

This is one of the most unique restaurants in Milwaukee and is worth a visit if it's a nice day. It's located in a very odd part of town along the Kinnickinnic River with a view of the Milwaukee skyline in the distance.

The food is hamburgers, grouper sandwiches, po boys, some entree's along with an oyster bar.

The beer list is the basic easy drinking variety.
Margarita's of course are a specialty.

Since this restaurant is attached to a marina there are quite a bit of boaters here during the summer but the crowd is quite eclectic but in general with a laid back attitude.

If you research this place and map the route bring others along that don't know. They'll really wonder where you are taking them as it's really off the beaten path.

Once you make it you'll be treated to a little bit of south Florida right here in the Midwest.

“Fun for summer”
Reviewed September 11, 2013

This place is fun. It's nothing fancy, but for what it is, it's perfect. Nearly all outdoor seating at picnic tables, right on the river. We went on a Sunday right when they opened, since we had our two little kids (3 and 1). Normally, this place isn't too kid-friendly, mostly because it's right on the water with limited protection from falling in. I'd worry not only about little ones, but drunk folks, too... Anyways, we had our little one in a small stroller, and tucked her out of the main walkways, and it was fine. Food was good, drinks were better. The oysters were good, but would've loved more options for them (they only had one kind). The bloody mary bar was a hit. All in all, for a super casual place to sit outside for some cold drinks and sandwiches, this is great... if you can find it!

“Hidden Gem! Great Food!”
Reviewed September 4, 2013

My son told us about Barnacle Bud's and we went there for lunch on a recent Saturday. If you're looking for a hole in the wall where you can enjoy good food indoors or out, this is the place. The location is pretty crazy...tucked away behind a warehouse district, but then again, it's right on the river.

Our server was totally friendly and very efficient. We enjoyed ice cold beer from a nice selection of brew. I had the Cheeseburger and thought it was very good. My husband had the Grouper Reuben and absolutely loved it!

Go to Barnacle Bud's when you're ready for a change of pace.

“Fun in the summer”
Reviewed August 23, 2013

We met friends from Chicago who drove to Milwaukee just to hang out at Barnacle Bud's last weekend - had a great time! Fun place with entertainment during the day. Busy. Right on the river and a boater hang-out. Fun clientele - casual - and a great way to enjoy a nice day. We had an excellent waitress. However, when she went off shift the second waitress wasn't good - she told us to refill our water pitcher from a cooler that had no ice - there was a hair in the water. Another employee very nicely got us fresh water and ice. The second waitress tried to rush us to leave, which was weird because there were empty tables. We all thought about telling the manager we weren't pleased with her, but didn't. I can only speak about the burger I had which I'd give a "C" - other stuff might have been fine. I don't like seafood and I think that's more their specialty. It's fun - I will definitely go back - but I hope we get the first waitress.
