Yes, the restaurant is pricy. Ambience is very nice, there was piano music on a Saturday evening. My wife's Mermaid Salad (entree size) was excellent. I opted for the Rouladin, and had some concerns - Was stuffed with some green peppers rather than the advertized pickles. While the beef was tender, it also seemed salty (or was this MSG?). Later that night I experienced significant heartburn (not normal; on medication for acid reflux that normally does an excellent job). Was it from the Rouladin? Of course, I can't be certain. I would assume that this experience is the exception rather than the rule, but if one has any concerns it might be a good idea to ask questions.

Visited the place November 10th, 2005. Waitresses are dressed in the traditional German costumes. Although I did not see them carrying 6, 8 pints of beer at a time :) One of them, when asked, said that ONLY IN MOVIES.

the food is of the high quality. But, I still think, too expensive. My duck cost $30. the total bill, for my wife, 2 children iwth kids' menu, 2 glasses of beer, came to be $130 NOT counting the tip.

Now, it is ok by me, since I really could afford it, and I do not visit this place that often. This place was highly recommended, and I wanted to experience this. Therefore, it is needless to say, that this was my first, and last visit to the Karl Ratzsch's.
