We entered Coquette cafe by surprise and we were surprised by the quality of the interior, the service and the food. And for once as a Euopean tourist we could just talk and not yell at each other because the accoustics are good. A good wine chart and well prepared food made us happy for the rest of the night!

We made a reservation and called to verify that our guest in a motorized wheelchair would be able to get in. We were assured they had an elevator in the back for access. The elevator looked like it hadn't worked in 30 years, and it didn't work that evening. After trying for 10-15 minutes (with our guest left inside a box facing a wall for that whole time), the restaurant workers gave up, and didn't even apologize.

The restaurant marked us as 'no shows' on OpenTable. We showed. They failed.

Went to the Coquette Cafe for a week day lunch with my husband. I had the tomato basil soup which was the soup of the day. It was really good, exactly the right portion. For dessert I had the bananas foster bread pudding, the taste was good but the bananas were a strange consistency. My husband had a pork sandwich which was also delicious, if a bit messy to eat. :) His dessert was cheesecake and it was superb. The ice tea was really nice too, a blend with passion fruit. Overall we enjoyed our lunch and would go back again.

What a charming place and with great service, ambience and terrific food. A perfect place to unwind with friends after a frenetic time in Chicago and the train trip to Milwaukee. This is a darling place where you can relax, enjoy the food and not be hassled by over zealous staff. Great coffee too. We'll be back.

Coquette is an old standby in Milwaukee's burgeoning gentrified Third Ward. The ambience is good, like a neighborhood bistro.

We were a party of six for dinner, four adults and two kids. Hats of to Coquette for having a kid-friendly and reasonably priced menu. Hats off as well for the fabulous, chewy sourdough bread. We might have made a meal of that and a salad.

Three of the four adults really enjoyed their meals (and the kids liked theirs as well). Bad luck for the restaurant that this reviewer had a most marginal roast half chicken experience. The meal was served on quite a small plate, which left no room for the bones as the chicken was consumed. The chicken was warm, but certainly not hot and it was, sadly, overcooked and accompanied by an uninspired sauce. The side order of spinach was decadently doused with butter and was delicious. The wine was good but a tad pricey, given the prices for the main courses.

None of this is sufficient to really criticize the experience. Perhaps I just drew the short straw when the food came off the line but I would certainly go back and give it another try.
