We were visiting Illinois for a wedding, and decided to make a quick trip to Milwaukee. We looked up things to do, and the Pabst Mansion popped up. It was worth the visit. The history is awesome, and the house is gorgeous. I was shocked to discover the house is 20,000 square feet, because it doesn't look that big on the outside. Our docent was very friendly and knowledgeable of the Pabst history. She really seemed to love what she was doing, which made it that much more enjoyable.
The entry fee was very reasonable, at $9 for adults. If you appreciate history and ornate architecture, you will enjoy this hour long tour.

The Pabst museum is a beautiful place that has a wonderful tour for a great price. The tour is one hour and you really get to know the history of the Pabst family and the history of the mansion that the family actually only lived in for a short period of time. The tours happen very hour on the hour and the guides are polite and knowledgeable.

I've toured a lot of mansions and this one was fabulous. The restoration is unbelievable (and expensive). Gold leaf is everywhere and hand-painted wallpaper is unreal. Our tour guide was so thrilled with the place and really made us fall in love with it.

Without a doubt one of the most informative tours I have taken. It is a good mix of history of the house and history of the Pabst family. The tour covers two floors but there is an elevator for those who have trouble with stairs. Be sure to donate the extra dollar that they ask for to help them continue with the marvelous renovations they are doing room by room. The tour is only hour and there isn't anything else to see so you won't risk running overtime here.
