Looking for something to do on a Saturday afternoon in Milwaukee, we walked three blocks from our hotel to the Pabst Mansion. The only way to see the home of the former beer baron is by guided tour, which starts every hour on the hour. Our docent, Dan Luedtke, had volumes of family and property history at his command. It was like walking into the turn-of-the-19th-century midwest. His descriptions of various family activities and their connection to the community painted a colorful picture. I almost felt guilty for not asking questions, which he solicited continually. The home itself was gorgeous, with opulent details in every space. The $9 per person admission was a tiny bit pricy, but by the end we felt we got our money's worth.

We arrived on a Saturday afternoon just as the hourly tour was beginning. Our tour guide did a great job describing the history of all the different rooms of the Mansion and shared some interesting stories about the Pabst family. It is a beautiful building that was almost torn down in the 1970's. If you like history, you will enjoy a tour of the Pabst Mansion. They say its extra special how its decorated during the Christmas season!

A really beautiful old mansion in Milwaukee. We walked from our hotel and arrived at about 2:10 pm and there is a sign stating that tours started every hour on the hour. We left to do other things on our list and came back just before three and hung out in the gift shop. A very nice and interesting tour.

We were in Milwaukee for a wedding and did not have any time to site see. We had to pick two things to see, and this was one of them. Love to see the old houses, when people cared about their work and made things by hand. Very state of the art for its day.

We took some friends from out of town and ended up enjoying it as much as they did. The mansion is "small enough" to tour and feel that you've seen it in a reasonable time. The woodwork just takes your breath away. Our guide was knowledgeable without sounding canned.
