As a Pirates fan I am obligated to dislike the Brewers. However, I look forward to their games so I can hear the one and only Mr. Baseball call the game. I remember years ago when Johnny Carson asked him how his book was doing. He responded that every time one sold, the publisher made him type up another one. Funniest thing I'd ever heard. Not a Brewers fan, but definitely a Bob Uecker fan.

While in Milwaukee, I wanted to stop by and see Miller Park. The home to the Milwaukee Brewers of the National league was opened a few years ago. It has a retractable roof, which allows the team play outdoor games, as well as indoor games in case of inclement weather.

Unfortunately, we were there before public tours started for the day.

The main attraction for me was the statue of the greatest true home run hitter of all-time – Hank Aaron. Aaron played in Milwaukee twice during his career, with the Braves (who later moved to Atlanta) and with the Brewers at the end of his career. Hammerin’ Hank hit 755 home runs, surpassing Babe Ruth as the all-time home run king in 1975. Barry Bonds later finished as baseball’s home run king, during the steroid-tainted era.
Robin Yount, another great Brewer, has his statue neat Aaron’s.

Nearby, is the statue of Bud Selig, former owner of the Brewers, and current commissioner of Major League Baseball.

“Mr. Baseball” – Bob Uecker – has his statue along the plaza. While not the greatest player in the history of baseball, Uecker has made a post-playing career as the play-by-play announcer for the Brewers. He has also dabbled in acting, including the movie “Major League” and the TV series “Mr. Belvedere.” Uecker also served a TV spokesman in commercials for Miller Lite beer, where he would mutter the words, “I must be in the front row” as he gets booted from seats at games.

Although we didn't receive any bad service or experience any problems here, there is absolutely nothing redeeming to write about. It's a pretty boring ballpark. Unless you tailgate, there is nothing to do if you arrive early. Doors don't open until an hour before the start of the game, and there is nothing outside the park to do except stand there and people watch. Inside, the concessions are, not surprisingly, over-priced, and entertainment for small kids is also skimpy. This ballpark is for the serious game watcher only. If you're looking for family fun, this is not the place to go in Milwaukee.

Loved everything about it!! Bought tickets online and picked them up at will call. General parking was quick and easy. Bought several shirts. Bought the Brewers souvenir beer glass. Everyone from the fans to the beer vendors were polite and nice. Bathrooms were clean and not too crowded. And the Brewers WON!!!!!
