Downtown Milwaukee gem, known by few who even live here! All of the artwork, including sculptures, depict men and women at work. A dozen or so of the sculptures have been enlarged to maybe 20 feet and 'guard' the upper garden where you can see out over Milwaukee. When the upper gardens are closed, the sculptures are turned. Mr. Grohmann has a circular office on the top which has beautiful stained glass windows, all scenes from beloved paintings in the museum which he and his wife chose. We were able to talk to Mr. Grohmann on 'Gallery Night' in Milwaukee, he was in residence! He stated one painting depicted in stained glass was not in the gallery, it is his wife's favorite and they have kept it. Mr. Grohmann was charming. The gallery includes a copy of the statute that is in Rotary Park, Port Washington on Lake Michigan by Andy Schumann, "The Fisherman". You can purchase some pewter replicas of "The Fisherman" and other items in the small store.

What a great melding of art and history!! You start with the friendly staff at the visitor's desk and the stained glass windows, and the tiled mural on the floor. Then the comprehensive art collection of the evolution of human work throughout the three floors. The wonderful finale is the rooftop sculpture garden. Nothing is to be missed. If you like history and art, you need tovisit this museum. A great find!

The museum is operated by the Milwaukee School of Engineering, totally organized. The visitor desk is friendly and willing to assist you with information.

The entire museum is devoted to the art of industries and the men behind them. It is quite touching and beautiful seeing men had transform what's around them through hard works and perseverance. The sculptures make you wonder and admire the strength of men. This is a feel good museum, do go and feel you are strong.

There are small TV monitors at some of the exhibits with films explaining some of the industry. I thought it would be boring but the short films are done in layman's term and you are shock you actually understand the whole process (Well done).

The collection of "Men at Work" was a unique theme and it "works". Start at the top with the sculpture garden then move down. Don't miss the QR codes that you can scan and learn more with a recorded message about the piece

We had not heard of the Grohmann, but found it in a list of attractions for Milwaukee. (We are always looking for a place we have not been!). This museum had a neat collection depicting people in trades. The sculpture garden on the roof and views into the stained glass study are not to be missed. We enjoyed the museum and it is a value at $5 each!
