Description: The Rumpus Room is a European style gastro pub in downtown Milwaukee that combines adventurous but approachable, comforting food and one of the best craft beer and cocktail programs in the city. The Rumpus Room offers a laid-back casual dining experience and features a spacious bar, an intimate dining room, a charcuterie area and a separate private event space. The menu emphasizes local, sustainable ingredients whenever possible, and the bar offers more than 20 beers on tap and more than 100 in bottles, plus a craft cocktail menu that changes with the seasons. One of the best restaurants in Milwaukee's lively downtown entertainment district, Rumpus Room frequently welcomes theater-goers before or after a performance at the nearby Marcus Center for the Performing Arts.

Highly recommend this place. As foodies from Chicago, we are often disappointed trying to find good food in other cities. But we were really impressed with both the quality of the food and friendliness of the service at Rumpus Room. Our waiter was fantastic, sadly I don’t remember his name (nice guy in glasses & plaid). My tortellini was delicious, and could’ve easily been too heavy or too rich, but was quite tasty, and the brownie dessert was fantastic with a cup of decaf to finish the night. My husband’s cocktail was a well balanced riff of an old fashioned and he seemed satisfied.

Overall, glad we chose this place to celebrate our long holiday weekend.

Good selection of beer and whiskey. Ordered the pork shoulder and a side of cheese curds. Pork was tender and meat/fat ratio was perfect. Would go back next time in Milwaukee.

Nothing special, the food was barely OK, the service lacked any warmth and charm. The menu was also very limited, the ambiance is OK. We had friends that wanted to eat here, wow were they wrong !!

We were told best beer cheese soup in Milwaukee. Both of us thought it was way too rich so rich in fact that we had zero appetite for dinner after finishing. I had with the bacon which my wife did not include the bacon. Hers was better. Very nice presentation of the charcuterie plate and nice selection of cheeses. The blue was fantastic. The mussels appetizer which I had for dinner was also very rich after eating the soup. It had a nice flavor but could not finish. My wife got the salad there may have been a drop of dressing on it.

Nice selection of whiskey but the old fashioned was horrible. An old fashioned is 3 ingredients bitters, sugar and whiskey. Why do people insist on muddling maraschino cherries and topping with seltzer or club soda.

Service as so so. Waitress was very knowledgeable but wasn’t very attentive. She only came back to check on my drink towards end of meal, had she come by when food was delivered I would have gotten another drink. Number one rule of service never let the drink go empty.

Since we had to go Downtown, we decided to have dinner here. We enjoyed the atmosphere at the bar and dined at one of the hi tops. Service matched the excellent dinner. I had two appetizers for dinner and we also ordered the schnitzel. We asked if the scallops could be charred more and they delivered big time. The PEI mussels were great, plentiful and tasty in a broth that included sausage and herbs. Nice wine available by the glass.
