“Really cute space, average food”
Reviewed September 23, 2013

Allium is located in a very inviting space. It's small and homey. Very good beer selection, personable service. Unfortunately, the food fell short of expectations. We started with the mushroom and lentil soup which tasted good but was barely warm. The white pizza came on a plate with no garnish. The crust was a little tough. The smoked trout appetizer didn't really work. There was horseradish sauce drizzled on the plate but not enough on the actual trout to provide adequate flavoring. The beets on the beet salad were crunchy.
Not a terrible experience but not one I'll probably ever repeat.

“Great restaurant. Perfect little jem”
Reviewed July 23, 2013 via mobile

Value was phenomenal. Had a split pea curry soup that was amazing 4$ then had a cheese plate but the waitress had no clue where the cheeses were from (big turnoff if you are not from Wisconsin) . Then had the lasagna for dinner and that was also amazing.

Overall a great experience and hopefully you will have better service!

“Eastside Gem!”
Reviewed July 15, 2013 via mobile

Allium has a wonderful wine selection that your bartender or server will be glad to go over and make recommendations for you. Their small plates are to die for and made with local ingredients as much as possible. The home made seasonal soups are fantastic. Beer selection is unique. Although the food is very good, what I love most is the service and relaxed atmosphere. I will definitely be back again and again and again.

“Cozy Place; Good Food and Spirits”
Reviewed January 1, 2013

Great place in a super, east side location. Whatever has occupied this space in the past has always been decent, but Allium is wonderful and I really hope they dominate this real estate for years to come.

We didn't dine there so much as we noshed there. Paired with a couple of glasses of New Glarus Snowshoe Ale, we had the Wisconsin cheese plate and "Olives & Almonds." The cheeses were as good as one could expect Wisconsin cheeses to be. I can't recall all the producers; I think they were Carr Valley, Cave Brothers, Hook and Sartori. They varied from soft to 6-year cheddar. A favorite was Hook's Blue. The cheese plate is also served with fresh baked bread from Aramanth Bakery.

The Olives & Almonds is an incredible noshing value at $4. A good sized ramekin of Kalamata and Lucque olives is served with another small bowl of Marcona Almonds. Marconas aren't your usual Fisher Nut Co. almonds. They are big and have a light coating of EVO and a sprinkle of rosemary.

Our seat at the bar gave us a good view of every entree leaving the kitchen and every dish looked delicious. I have no doubt every one tasted as good as it looked.

Lastly, this place isn't just about good food. They have a nice selection of American and European craft beers and an extensive wine list and cocktail menu.

This place is small and cozy. If you're in Milwaukee on a chilly Winter's night, I can't think of a better place to relax with your favorite libation and enjoy a good meal.
