We originally had booked to stay at the Aloft hotel. Luckily I searched the day before our trip and found this hotel had availability (it didn't originally when I searched) and it was actually cheaper than the Aloft and included free breakfast and better room. We had king bed studio suite. It included full kitchen, couch, chair, TV, 2 breakfast bar stools and desk. We really enjoyed the room. It was very clean, modern and very well set up. When you walk thru the door the 1st view is really very cool because of the very large windows. Everything about our stay was very good. The only minor imperfection I can see is that you do hear some street traffic but all hotels have that issue when they are downtown Milwaukee. I didn't think it was bad considering this was busy area but at times you could hear it a little. I just set our fan to run constant and it blocked the noise very well. We were on the street side vs. the river side so perhaps the river side might be little quieter. Parking was convenient. Great location. We were able to walk to the Safe House, Mo's Irish Pub and Rock Bottom with no problem. Many great places around here. Stay also came with breakfast buffet including warm items like waffles, eggs, bacon, etc. Most items were pretty good for free breakfast buffet. Overall I will def. stay here again. We have stayed at Iron Horse in the past and really liked it too but it's farther away and you really can't walk to places as easily so I think the Marriott is better in that sense.

The service at this hotel was exceptional.
After we booked our stay with Residence Inn we called to ask about the possibility of early check-in. The lady on the phone was very nice and said they would try to accommodate us but if they were full the night before they may not have a room available that early. (We were arriving around 7:45 am) When we arrived we asked the gentleman at the front desk if it were possible to get a room so early. He said they were full the night before but he would check. He called housekeeping and found that there was a room available. He checked us in and told us to help ourselves to the complimentary breakfast.
After exploring the city for about 3-4 hours we stopped back by the hotel and found that one of our keys didn't work. We went to the front desk and the same gentleman was still there. He remembered our room number without even asking.
The following morning we received a call from the front desk just to ask if everything was O.K. and if we needed anything. I thought this was a nice touch. We had a late flight out that evening and they checked our bag for us all day after we checked out. I can't say enough about the great customer service here.
As far as the room. We were on the top floor with a very nice view. Loved the big windows. The room was very nice, large and comfortable. The full kitchen was very nice although we didn't use it at all. It would be great for a longer stay.
We will definitely stay here whenever we return to Milwaukee.

I spent two nights in a King studio room recently. The room was fairly small, but the high ceilings made it feel much larger than it was. The room decor was pleasant, and the furnishings were in good condition. It's a small thing, but being able to park in the entrance area for loading, unloading, meeting friends and the like was quite convenient. The location is convenient to Old World Third Street and the Public Market area. But: the room was never cleaned during my visit: the wastebaskets were never emptied, the bed not made, and there was no service of any kind. I realize that hotels are cutting back on houskeeping services/linens, but for the price of the room a little attention would have been nice.

**Don't forget to hit the Tripadvisor "check rates" button to get an idea of what's a good rate. Then go onto the Marriott website and/or call Marriott to hunt down the best deal. Marriott frequently has nice package deals (but make sure to calculate whether the package elements are useable/worth it) although I didn't get one for this property.

**Parking here is reasonable and has in/out privileges. You only save a few dollars parking in the garage across the street and there are no in/out rights.

**The hotel is just a few exits (two?) from the Brewers' stadium, and from the location of the State Fair (which is best visited early on a weekday.)

**The two room suite was huge and the city view was nice enough, with no special request needed.

**This is located in a business complex so security is better than at other hotels.

**You are within walking distance of the Public Market area http://www.milwaukeepublicmarket.org/index.php where you can eat very well frequently.
**There are restaurants and bars nearby one of which has a free shuttle to Brewer ball games. We asked for a quiet room and heard nothing.

**Right downstairs is a Borders bookstore.

**This was a great rate for the huge space we got, a two bedroom suite plus a sleeper sofa.
**3 TVs- BUT that means the kiddies can surf through questionable channels! So I called to get assistance on keeping things clean.
**There is NO pool.
**There is an excellent laundry room with cheap large machines. Bring your own change and soap -- or ask how to get. They may be some place to buy cheap nearby or expensive onsite.

**I can be a high maintenance guest! There is no concierge but Jen, who worked the Thursday and Friday I was there, was always very cheerfully accommodating. She researched whatever I requested, such as a German restaurant; transit and parking options at the Brewers game; even where to buy a Kringle, a Wisconsin treat.
**BTW- if you are heading to Chicago next, stop at the Mars Cheese Castle and you can get a variety of Kringles there.

We wanted a hotel in downtown and were very pleased with the location of this hotel - right on the river and very close to many restaurants. However, we also loved the room. The hotel appears to be an office building conversion which yielded huge rooms with very large windows. The room was well equipped and very clean. Highly recommended.

Thank you for your comments. The building was originally built in 1887 as the Gimbels Department Store and is a historic landmark for the city of Milwaukee.

We have stayed here before and we love it.
The service is great, the rooms are very clean and large and the location is great also.
I highly recommend it and next time we go to Milwaukee we will stay here again.
It is a good location if you are going to Miller Park which we did for the Twins/Brewers games. You can take a shuttle from across the street to the games.
We stayed with Marriott points and received very good service.
