Description: Harbor House is a bright, spacious New England-style seafood restaurant Milwaukee residents and visitors love, set on the shore of Lake Michigan. The restaurant is a result of a partnership between local businessman and philanthropist Michael Cudahy and The Bartolotta Restaurants. After opening in 2010, Harbor House quickly rose to become one of the city's top restaurants. Harbor House offers a premier lakefront dining experience and the freshest seafood flown in daily from both coasts. The interior features a three-sided bar, a raw bar, an open kitchen and a private dining room available for special events and parties. An outdoor patio features a full bar, Adirondack chairs and unparalleled views of the lake, the Milwaukee Art Museum and Milwaukee's skyline.

Our party was placed in the front room and we couldn't hear each other talking. Complained and was moved to the back area which was more tolerable. Not a place for a romantic dinner. View is nioce of course. Food was really not as good as advertised in other reviews. Probably won't return.

I have been to the Harbor House since it first opened and it has slowly degraded over that time. Now the service is ok, but the food and the drinks are not worthy of the price tags they have. I am not one to write any bad reviews as there are always those complainers out there. I have been to the restaurant at least 7-10 times since they opened and probably will not be back for awhile. You can not have a high end restaurant and put a 20yr old kid behind the bar that can not mix a packet of koolaid let alone anything else. It makes no sense, then the food and the wait. If it is even slightly busy plan on being there a long time and having to flag someone down for service at your table. Then I ordered crab legs and the steak. Steak was so rare I think it was mooing, even the waiter said "Geez that is pretty rare"...and I did not know you could overcook a crab leg, but yes you can.

When they first opened they were on their game, now it has gone to a mediocre crap shoot on whether it will be good food and good drinks or not. It is a shame that all these restaurants seem to do this. If the owner is reading, pay an experienced bartenders/mixologists, plus real chefs to make the food. If I were paying Texas Road House prices then I would not care....I wish anyone would really run a high end restaurant with staff that knew their jobs inside and out.

Ok, so my husband and I are Delta airlines loyal customers and are always working to make sure we make the next level of Priority status. To that end we often do goofy things to get the extra mileage we need towards the end of the year. Soooo, we decided to fly from St. Louis through Minneapolis to go to Milwaukee and get miles. We chose a Saturday to do 4 flights to go to Milwaukee and back in November. We landed in Milwaukee and took a cab to Harbor House since it had great reviews on Trip Advisor. We were certainly not disappointed! The restaurant is beautiful with of alot of white trim, bead board paneling and windows overlooking the harbor creating the perfect atmosphere for an elegant "boat house". The service was fantastic with not only very responsive and attentive servers but with alot of personality and knowledge of the food and area. We sat in the bar area since the full menu is available there too. We enjoyed very fresh seafood both raw and cooked. The oyster selection was extensive and very fresh. Unfortunately, they were waiting for their shipment of fresh stone crab claws so we weren't able to enjoy that delicacy. Ever since we had Lobster Rolls in Portland Maine, my husband has to order them whenever they are on a menu. Well, the Lobster Roll at HH is as good as anything we've ever had in New England and we would highly recommend it. The wine selection was very good and overall HH made our quick trip to Milwaukee very memorable.

It was a cold night, so we chose valet service. This went very smoothly. Next we arrived early so we decided to check our coats and have a drink at a bar side table. The salted caramel martini was delicious. The atmosphere was up beat and lively around the bar. We were called to our table a bit early, but that was fine because we were able to get a window seat. The decor in this restaurant is amazing. The view of the Milwaukee skyline was beautiful along Lake Michigan. Our waitstaff was efficient, polite as well as informative. Caitlin and Thomas worked well together. The clam, oyster, shrimp and crab appetizer was perfect. The steak and scallops were very tasty as well. This was a wonderful New Year's Eve dinner! Perfect way to end 2012!
